This role ensures the provision of an enriched leisure program by providing opportunities for learning and skill development. The Child and Youth Worker ensures that the activities being offered are designed to promote an inclusive program within the community.

**TERM/STATUS**:
Permanent Part Time

**SCHEDULE/HRS**:
Monday 13:00-18:00; Tuesday to Friday 14:00-18:00 // 25 hours per week
- (Temporary Full time 7.5 hours per day // 37.5 per week during summer, professional development days, and school breaks)

**HOURLY WAGE**:
$27.83 as per collective agreement
- DDA is a CSSEA employer paying JJEP collective agreement rates; WE funding is not paid above the ECE wage.

**THE ROLE**:

- The Lead Child & Youth Worker ensures the provision of an enriched school age program by providing opportunities for learning and social skill development for school aged children; including participants with special needs. The position ensures that activities being offered are designed to promote individual growth.

**REQUIREMENTS**:
**Education & Experience**:

- Certificate or minimum of 3 years in related studies toward a degree such as Therapeutic Recreation, Leisure Studies, Child Care, Social Sciences, or Education.
- Minimum 1 year direct experience with children and youth in a school aged setting.
- Strong interpersonal and team building skills.
- Formal training in the area of counselling and behaviour management.
- Requires physical strength, good balance, mobility and endurance for recreational activities.

**Standard requirements of the Lead Child & Youth Worker include**:

- Criminal Record Clearance
- Medical Clearance
- Satisfactory Driver’s Abstract
- Unrestricted Class 4 Driver's License, or Class 5 river's License and are willing to obtain a Class 4 Unrestricted Driver's License
- Valid First Aid/CPR
- Non-violent Crisis Intervention Certification
- Demonstrated competency in English written and verbal communication
- Basic computer literacy
- Eligible to work in Canada
