**Job Overview**

The Township of Langley is currently recruiting for a temporary full-time (from approx. March 24, 2025 - March 16, 2026) **Trades 1 - Trees**to join our team of professionals in the Public Works Division, Parks Operations Department. Reporting to the Manager, Parks Operations, in this unionized position you will be expected to perform semi-skilled arboriculture and/or horticulture work while assisting with the Township of Langley’s street and park tree planting program.

**Responsibilities**
- Identify tree planting locations along streets and within parks
- Select appropriate tree species for the location and review with supervisor
- Complete and maintain a variety of records, forms and maps related to the work
- Respond to service requests from the public
- Assign and oversee the work of contractors: ensures safe work practices and environment according to municipal and WorkSafeBC standards
- Perform related work as required

**Qualifications**
- Completion of Grade 12 supplemented by courses in Arboriculture and/or Horticulture plus sound related experience, including some supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience
- Considerable knowledge of the methods, practices, materials, tools and equipment used in arboricultural and/or horticultural operations related to the work
- Ability to provide routine information to the public and provide follow-up to their complaints and enquiries
- Certified Tree Risk Assessor Qualification considered an asset

**Required Certifications/Licenses**
- Certification as an Arborist with the International Society of Arborists
- Pesticide Applicators Licence - Landscape General
