Summary:
As a research centre of the **Providence Health Care Research Institute** and a** University of British Columbia Faculty of Medicine Centre**, the **BCCSU** is at the forefront of substance use research, education, and care. We are committed to advancing substance use policies and care in BC by translating research into education and evidence-based care guidance. By supporting the collaborative development of evidence-based policies, guidelines and standards, BCCSU seeks to improve the integration of best practices and care across the continuum of substance use.

In this role, the **Program Manager, Education and Implementation (BCCSU)** will report to the Acting Associate Director, Education and Clinical Activities, and your responsibilities will include:

- The assessment, planning, delivery, implementation, and evaluation of all of the BC Centre on Substance Use's (BCCSU) education initiatives
- Collaborating with provincial partners and drawing upon their skills, knowledge, and experience to develop and improve BCCSU educational products and programs
- Informed by internal and external partners, research and clinical guidance, developing and identifying innovative ideas and opportunities for education mobilization and uptake
- Leading ongoing engagement and implementation strategies to expand participant enrolment and uptake of new and existing educational programs
- Leading and supervising our education team
- Participating in ongoing initiatives, providing an education focused and strategic perspective on implementation of initiatives

**What You Bring**:

- Knowledge of harm reduction and substance use care and treatment
- Knowledge of health care system and collaboration with ministry and other partners at the provincial level
- Clinical work experience and knowledge within the health care system would be a strong asset
- Experience planning, developing and implementing education initiatives
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Strong leadership, project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage priorities, meet deadlines, and work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team
- Robust computer literacy and technical skills in the areas of: MS Office, learning platforms, as well as Teams, and Zoom as meeting and webinar-hosting platforms
- The coordination of various education initiatives at BCCSU requires meaningful and respectful collaboration between internal and external working groups as well as hybrid-remote work. This position can be between 0.80 FTE up to a 1.0 FTE (4-5 days a week), and flexible scheduling is available._

What You Bring:
**Education**:

- A Master’s degree in an area relevant to health care or other relevant discipline plus a minimum five (5) years relevant experience, including working in health-related education, working with people who use drugs, and working in other relevant health settings or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Strong project management skills and experience, experience managing external contracts would be an asset
- Academic, clinical, and/or research background in substance use and addiction medicine is preferred.

**Skills and Abilities**:

- Excellent written and spoken communication and presentation skills, with a demonstrated ability to develop and maintain strong collaborative relationships with external experts, people with lived and living experience, health care providers, and other healthcare decision makers.
- Highly developed analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
- Strong facilitation and conflict resolution skills with ability to engage and build consensus amongst diverse groups.
- Familiarity with concepts related to health equity, addiction medicine, public health research, and the social determinants of health is an asset
- An understanding of and commitment to ongoing learning around anti-racism, cultural safety and humility, and reconciliation.
- An understanding of the ways in which laws and policies have contributed to the marginalization of people who use drugs, or a willingness to learn.
- Ability to lead and work closely with teams and mentor team members.
- Comprehensive knowledge and skill in educational theory, research, technology, and related best practices
- Familiarity with contract negotiations, grant writing, budget development and working across government and agencies from development to execution. Familiarity with provincial and national privacy and data sharing legislation.

- **A competitive salary**: Although the full salary range is $88,990 to $127,000, the typical hiring range for this position is **$88,990 to $114,000**, depending on experience and internal equity.
