**Responsibilities**:
Reporting to the Shore Regional Hospital Site Lead, the Manager for W&C’s services will provide operational management and leadership for the W&C’s Services at the South Shore Regional Hospital. S/he will support the development, implementation, coordination and evaluation of all activities provided within the W&C’s Health Program ensuring that these are delivered from within the Program’s identified resources. S/he will collaborate with the multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders of NSHA and IWK to ensure the effective and efficient delivery of services.
Where possible, the Manager will work with their colleagues to develop Program and service standards and pan province policies and procedures, while recognizing the differences required of local populations and cultures.
The Manager facilitates effective changes to ensure that patient care and related services align with strategic directions and initiatives as established by NSHA and the Department of Health & Wellness. These will include the principles of Primary Maternity Health Care and Population Health. The Manager integrates knowledge of provincial and national care standards as well as professional practice standards when driving change. Their understanding of the clinical practice area(s) will provide support to the continuous improvement of the Program.
The Manager ensures that the principles and practices that guide NSHA such as the vision, mission, values, expected behaviours, the leadership philosophy, organizational health, population health, ethics, safety, quality, partnerships and interprofessional collaboration are visible at the front line and within daily activities.
**Qualifications**:
- Baccalaureate degree in nursing is required.
- Knowledge, or experience, of the clinical areas are desirable.
- Master’s degree related to healthcare or management is preferred.
- Registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Nova Scotia or applicable regulatory body.
- Minimum of five (5) years recent related experience, including at least two (2) years’ experience in a formal leadership role with responsibilities related to program planning, evaluation, human resource and financial management. Broad based knowledge of the clinical issues and risk management strategies related to the target populations.

- Management skills demonstrated through planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluating.
- Ability to manage human resources/intellectual capital, financial resources, capital/material assets and information.
- Capability of financial management and business planning.
- Develop and evaluate learning strategies and opportunities that support the development of all staff (Nurses and Ward Clerks)
- Skilled in building internal and external collaborative relationships.
- Communicates effectively, both oral and in written.
- Proven conflict resolution skills.
- Demonstrates networking, negotiation and change management skills.
- Knowledge of population health and maternity & pediatric health care
**Skills**
- Some travel is required.
- Information systems - ability to work within Microsoft Office suite, SAP Manager Support and SuccessFactors.
- Successful applicants are required to provide a criminal record check and vulnerable sector check before starting employment and assume any associated costs as a condition of employment.
- Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred
**Hours of Work**:
Permanent full time position; 75 hours bi-weekly
**Salary Information**:
$42.62 - $56.64 hourly
