**Summary**

The Body Shop Technician is required to perform skilled tasks in the repair and maintenance of vehicles.
Responsible for the restoration of damaged vehicles to their original structural integrity, function, and appearance. Uses hand tools and power tools to remove or repair damaged parts, weld as needed, and properly install new parts. The Body Shop Technician works with a variety of metals and plastics, as well as glass, electrical, and mechanical parts. Damaged vehicles must be repaired correctly so they will perform as designed, especially in subsequent collisions. Work assignments will be received in the form of oral or written work orders, but the employee is expected to determine the nature and extent of needed repairs.

**Job Duties**
- Review damage report and plan work to be performed
- Repair and replace front end components, body components, doors and frame and underbody components
- Repair autobody to factory or customer specifications
- Fill cracks and depressions
- Hammer out dents, buckles and other defects using blocks and hammers
- Operate soldering equipment or use plastic filler to fill holes, dents, and seams
- Remove damaged fenders, panels and grills using wrenches and cutting torch and bolt or weld replacement parts into place
- Straighten bent frames using frame and underbody pulling and anchoring equipment
- File, grind, and sand repaired body surfaces using hand and power tools
- Mask and tape auto body surfaces in preparation for painting
- Repair or replace interior components, such as seat frame assembly, carpets, and floorboard insulation
- Performing diagnostic assessments to ensure that all issues have been detected, and that the customer is willing to have these remedied.
- Wearing safety gear and conducting work in a safe manner.
- Restoring vehicles to their original condition, or better, by repairing, replacing, and upgrading features of their exterior.
- Ensuring that each vehicle is roadworthy upon completion of the job.
- Checking to see that issues have been resolved to customers' satisfaction.

**Requirements**:

- High school diploma or equivalent
- Licensed or certified Technician
- Experience as an Autobody Technician
- Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to provide an acceptable driver abstract

**Working Conditions**
- Outdoor and indoor work
- Repeat physical activities daily (lifting, sit, and stand for prolonged period)
- Wear protective clothing and equipment daily

Schedule:

- 8 hour shift
- Monday to Friday

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Dartmouth, NS: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

**Experience**:

- auto body repair: 1 year (preferred)

Licence/Certification:

- Licensed Autobody Technician (Red Seal) (required)
