Sunchild Child and Family Services is hiring a Case Aide for the protection team. We require a highly motivated, visionary, team-oriented practitioner with a passion for First Nations children and families and a commitment to family preservation.
Reporting to the Case Manager/Manager of Protection Services, the incumbent is responsible for direct client contact, ongoing co-assessment of children, youth, and families, and strengthening case planning to meet the child’s/youth’s/family’s needs. This role provides a collaborative approach with the caseworkers, caregiver team, and youth division to effectively meet family needs. This role is designed to support case managers in child-driven practices. In-home support and community engagement are part of the scope of practice.
**Role Responsibilities**
As a case aide, you will support the implementation of Sunchild Nation community and family goals and actively participate in collaboration amongst families, programs, and leadership. The position is responsible for child intervention activities assigned by the delegated case manager. This proficient position is knowledgeable in child protection legislation and has the expertise to lead in the field of practice, enhancing the lives of Sunchild children, youth, and their families.
Youth: the incumbent will be responsible for supporting youth and families
Indigenous: The incumbent will work with key stakeholders in First Nations communities, provide services to Indigenous children, families, and youth, and mentor them. The incumbent will possess a superior knowledge base of Indigenous methodologies and innovative approaches to social issues and the preservation of family.

**Qualifications**
- A certificate or diploma in human services related to social work, child and youth care, psychology, social science, or other related fields is required
- A minimum 2 years’ experience working with vulnerable families
- A solid understanding of the philosophy of prevention, protection and permanency
- Ability to relate effectively to people of diverse economic, social and Cultural backgrounds
- Superior verbal and written communication skills enhanced and advanced computer skills
- Knowledge of issues and practices of CFS and the impact on children and families; services to children, family dynamics, and an understanding of trauma-informed practice
- Ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, and work without direct supervision
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License and clean driver abstract.
- Fluency in Cree and/or Saulteaux is an asset
- Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector and Intervention Record Check
- Currently or eligible to become a registered member of ACSW
**Related Experience**:
- Conducting assessments and managing case files
- Experience with Safety Planning
- Capacity to implement the Sunchild Framework Principles and Practice Guidelines
- Experience in working with families living in poverty
- Knowledgeable in mental health, substance abuse/misuse and concurrent disorders
- Experience working with diverse groups and First Nations communities
