**Responsibilities**:

- Be a courageous safety leader; while adhering to and sponsoring health and safety regulations, processes and procedures
- Lead and develop a team of health and safety professionals
- Monitor and audit health and safety practices and procedures in accordance with legislation and management system standards. This includes identification of improvement opportunities and providing coaching in these areas
- Monitor legislative developments and assist operations with regulators
- Inform senior leadership of the implications of existing, new and evolving legislative initiatives in active jurisdictions and the associated liabilities
- Demonstrate industry leadership in strategy development and execution by identifying best practices across the industry and integrate into TKE’s learning culture
- Identify and communicate trends which result in improvements in knowledge and reduction of injury and evaluate overall company performance against our industry peers
- Participate in workplace inspections to highlight and address safety concerns and provide visible evidence of interest, involvement and commitment to the Health and Safety Program

**Who we are looking for**:
Your qualifications
- Undergraduate degree with relevant educational training on standards, concepts, practices, and procedure within the health & safety field
- A minimum of 10 years of Health and Safety experience in a leadership role
- Demonstrated knowledge of Federal and Provincial laws and regulations governing workplace H&S
- Experience with assessing job hazards; completing and guiding accident investigations
- Effective interpersonal and influencing skills with demonstrated ability to interact and coach individuals and teams across all levels and functions
- Demonstrated success in building collaborative relationships in a Union environment
- Partners effectively with regional management to develop practical and proactive H&S initiatives
- Ability to develop, implement and coordinate comprehensive health & safety incident prevention programs
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills (verbal and written)
- Demonstrated ability to influence operations as it relates to H&S performance
- In possession of extensive experience with job hazards analyses, incident and accident investigation, and direct experience chairing Health and Safety meetings in a unionized environment. Applicable certification, such as the Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) or Certified Health and Safety Consultant (CHSC) is preferred
- Bilingual (English/French) is considered an asset
- Frequent travel is required for this position
