**QMC Technician**

QMC Metering Solutions supplies and integrates several meter technologies to effectively monitor the consumption of electricity, water, gas and thermal energy consumption of commercial and residential properties. We have offices in Coquitlam, Calgary, and Toronto and have a support and distribution network across the country including Edmonton and Montreal.

The Service Technician, coordinates with the C&I Manager and Service Coordinator to schedule, commission and complete C&I projects and services on time and to the customers’ satisfaction in the Commercial, and Institutional division.

The Service Technician will work with electrical, water, thermal and gas meters along with their corresponding systems and integrate those meters with various communications protocols that collect and send data to customers for use in billing, energy management and other government sponsored incentives.

Responsibilities Include
- Travel to locations to setup, test, verify and commission new automated meter installations and service existing installations.
- Program and setup data acquisition servers for new and existing sites.
- Assist in the installation of our Rogers VPN network of cellular IP modems
- Communicate with PMs and Service Coordinator to arrange site access, gather correct materials, equipment, tools and documentation, to complete jobs efficiently.
- Convey any field related product issues to PMs and Service Manager to make necessary changes, updates, and corrections to resolve the issues quickly
- Ensures Measurement Canada and ISO 9001 quality standards with both internal and external customers
- Record details of customer contacts and actions taken to ensure a satisfied customer.
- Handle customer complaints calmly, provide appropriate solutions and alternatives within the time limits and follow up to ensure resolution
- Produce detailed and accurate reports from field inspections results
- Follow instructions, communication procedures, guidelines and QMC policies diligently.
- Follow all health and safety procedures identified by QMC and the customer.
- Participate and attain any safety required courses.
- Ensure all customer requirements are meet and delivered as per designed and ordered.
- Work with Service Coordinator to keep records of customer interactions and transactions, recording details of inquiries, complaints, and comments, as well as actions taken.

Core Competencies & Experience
- Advanced knowledge of medium and low voltage electrical systems. - 1 Year (min)
- Advanced knowledge of mechanical water, thermal and gas systems. - 1 Year (min)
- Working knowledge of IT infrastructure and networking for computers and devices.
- Communications knowledge of RS-485, modbus RTU & MSTP, BACnet, M-Bus, 4-20mA
- Hands-on experience using tools for electrical wiring, communications, and mechanical
- Advanced knowledge of troubleshooting techniques to find communication, electrical, and mechanical faults or errors.
- Experience using MS Outlook, Word, Excel, additional knowledge using CRMs and web meetings software. Windows 10, 11 experience and overall computer knowledge.
- Ability to read engineering drawings and single line drawings for electrical.
- Strong verbal and written communications are a must when dealing directly with clients.
- Able to respond to customer service request for technical issues and solutions.
- Ability to identify and assess customers’ needs to achieve solutions-based results
- Build sustainable relationships of trust through open communication with customers.

**Requirements**:

- Electrical/Electronics/Instrumentation Engineering Technologist Diploma from accredited College or University (3 year is preferred)
- Effective time management & organizational skills
- Be able to multi-task many jobs in their different stages of work flow
- Pro-actively find and report issues and solutions in a timely manner
- Effective teamwork is a must
- Process oriented
- Ability to communicate effectively, including writing skills
- Taking initiative, be responsible, and ability to manage own time is key
- Analytical thinking
- Valid Driver’s License

Working Conditions
- Service Technicians usually works both in the field and in the office environment.
- Performs service calls and commissioning duties on projects as an Apprentice, Junior or Senior Technician, depending on experience.
- Service Technicians work a standard work week but may be required to work some evenings and weekends to meet project milestones.
