**THE OPPORTUNITY - Housing Services Practitioner - Awake Overnight
- Variable Position**

Reporting to the AON Team Leader, this position provides direct support to persons with a disability and a mental health diagnosis. Hours of work and location are dependent on the needs of the consumers, team and Vecova’s organizational needs.

This position provides high quality services consistent with Vecova’s Mission, Vision, Values, and Code of Ethics.

Hours of work will be dependent on the consumer needs and will require flexibility

**WHAT YOU WILL DO**
- Identify behaviors of concern; aid in the development, review, and monitoring of plans to manage behaviours or situations of concern
- Support individuals in their daily routines and activities such as bathing, meal preparation, shopping, attending medical appointments, medication administration, cleaning and laundry
- Assist individuals in management of their personal affairs such as banking and budgeting, paying bills, etc.
- Encourage development of social skills and meaningful relationships
- Support individuals to know their rights, voice their thoughts and needs, and advocate for the services they require
- Promote development of social skills and social awareness
- Keep guardians and family members updated with consumer information regarding daily needs, schedule changes or activities as appropriate

**WHAT YOU BRING**

We are looking to engage team members with diverse skills, experiences and interests. These are some of the competencies and credentials we are looking for:

- Diploma and/or Degree in Community Rehabilitation, Disability Studies or a related social science
- Minimum of (2) years of experience working with individuals with disabilities or an equivalent combination of education and directly related experience
- Well developed and effective communication skills (written and oral)
- Demonstrated skill in critical thinking
- Demonstrate a high standard of professionalism aligned with Vecova values
- Maintain a positive working relationship with all Vecova team members
- Represent Vecova in a professional manner
- Demonstrate a high level of initiative and enthusiasm
- Maintain confidentiality at all times
- Demonstrate a high level of administrative and IT capacity
