A willingness and ability to work any recognized shift, including weekends, is expected. From time to time, hours of work may be adjusted to suit operational needs. **_*This position is eligible for a Modified Work Schedule*_** **Applicants must be legally entitled to work in Canada AND continued employment is dependent upon ongoing eligibility to legally work in Canada** - Job Summary Performs the work associated with a Grounds Worker 1 classification which includes but in not limited to cutting grass using a push or ride-on type mower, assisting with the maintenance and development of cultivated areas by digging, hoeing, weeding, watering, fertilizing, pruning, trimming and transplanting of flowers, shrubs and trees, operating a variety of small outdoor power equipment associated with grounds maintenance such as garden cultivators, grass trimmers, backpack blowers and hedge trimmers etc, assisting with sport field, exterior structure and fixture maintenance, erecting event signs, cleaning, making repairs to and operating an irrigation system when directed. - Job Requirements A minimum of three (3) years demonstrated experience in performing grounds maintenance tasks including a good working knowledge of gardening and the associated equipment and tools used to perform the work. The ability to take direction and be able to follow written and oral instruction accurately is essential as is the ability to maintain effective relationships with faculty, staff and students. Sufficient strength, stamina and coordination is required in order to perform a variety of routine heavy manual tasks and operate the associated equipment continuously in all types of weather conditions and possession of a valid BC driver's licence are required.
