**How you will contribute as part of the TRCA team**:
Under the direction of the Senior Manager of Enforcement and Compliance, the Enforcement Officer will play an important role in the Authorities objectives to prevent, eliminate, or reduce the risk to life and property, and to encourage the protection, enhancement and enjoyment of our natural systems. The position entails environmental and construction compliance and protection initiatives, public safety, and community liaison and outreach within TRCA’s jurisdiction.
The Enforcement Officer will conduct compliance monitoring and respond to public inquiries and complaints under the Authorities regulatory requirements and permitting processes, liaise and coordinate construction and landholding compliance initiatives, maintain communications with developers, consultants, contractors, special interest groups, stakeholders, and other Authority business units as it relates to planning permits, land management issues and corporate initiatives, and will participate in the Authorities flood watch program.
**Major Responsibilities**:
- Conduct regular compliance audits of TRCA Planning and Development permit sites to ensure compliance with site plans, permit conditions, construction techniques and methodology, and environmental controls/ protections.
- Identify and effectively address non-compliance issues and environmental concerns associated with approved development sites. Maintain effective client relations with partnering agencies, development industry, and stakeholders. Negotiate compliance and required permit amendments or revisions and provide accurate information and advice relating to TRCA regulatory jurisdiction, legislation, and policies.
- Respond to and address stakeholder concerns associated with unauthorized development activities within TRCA jurisdiction, and coordinate with partnering agencies and TRCA technical, planning, and senior staff to formulate solutions, and to develop compliance strategies.
- Patrol TRCA parks and properties and promote appropriate public usage. Conduct inspections and investigations relating to public safety and land use infractions and respond to stakeholder concerns. Evaluate unlawful activities, impacts and parties responsible.
- Identify infractions and initiate legal action for significant occurrences, when required. Collect evidence, prepare case files, issue offence notices, swear and serve information, prepare Crown Brief, coordinate prosecutions, participate in court proceedings, and supervise execution of remedial works as negotiated through settlement agreement or Court Order,
- Document daily compliance activities. Complete inspection reports and occurrence reports, document stakeholder concerns, and prepare summary reports regarding infractions.
- Maintain a high level of professionalism associated with compliance principles, personal conduct, legislative knowledge, and attire. Positively represent and promote awareness of TRCA programs, initiatives, and regulatory jurisdiction.
- Attend ongoing skills and development, internal and external technical and compliance training, and participate in team meetings regarding compliance trends, program initiatives, policies, procedures, and legislative jurisdiction. Maintain high level of technical knowledge associated with development practices and environmental issues.
- Manage a demanding workload. Assess and prioritize ongoing responsibilities to meet targets, deadlines and goals.
- Position requires working weekends, evenings, and holidays shifts and non-standard schedules.

- Post-Secondary Degree or Diploma in Resource Management, Police Foundations, Environmental or Civil Engineering, CET, and/or related discipline.
