**Employment Opportunity - Youth Ambassador (Male & Female)**

Treaty 8 Urban Child and Family Services Office (UCFS) is seeking two dynamic and energetic individuals to fill the position as Male and Female Youth Ambassador. These positions will report to a Child and Youth Liaison Lead. The Youth Ambassador provides leadership and mentorship through direct services in meeting Jordan’s Principle goals of preventing children and youth from falling through gaps in service. The Youth Ambassador provides advocacy and support to ensure Treaty 8 children and youth have access to all services, without limitation or discrimination equivalent to other Albertans.

The Youth Ambassador is responsible for successful planning, coordinating, organizing, promoting, and evaluating a range of youth development activities and programs and the necessary range of culturally appropriate services and resources that enhance opportunities for Treaty 8 youth engagement. This role also establishes and maintains effective collaborative relationships with individuals and groups in the Community to determine the needs of Treaty 8 youth and children. The Youth Ambassador also encourages and promotes a supportive environment for Treaty 8 youth to address challenges and barriers they may be experiencing, and advocates, where necessary for programs and resources. This is a full-time position with a flexible schedule of 37.5 hours per week including evenings, weekends, and some statutory holidays.

**Responsibilities**:

- Monitor and evaluate, on an on-going basis, the Treaty 8 Urban Child and Family Services youth programs and activities and incorporating relevant feedback to enhance youth programming.
- Work with the Treaty 8 UCFS team to participate in youth engagement and consultation activities.
- Assist Treaty 8 youth in learning more about and/or connecting with cultural practices and traditions.
- Provide guidance to Treaty 8 youth in identifying individual plans and goals and serving as a role model for them.
- Assist Treaty 8 youth in accessing additional resources and services as necessary, work with their community and the Treaty 8 UCFS.
- Actively promote the Treaty 8 UCFS youth programs and activities through a variety of social media.
- Assist communities to identify the needs of youth and develop strategies that address the recreational, social, and emotional needs of Treaty 8 youth.
- Collaborate, plan, and implement a range of community events to promote the personal wellness of Treaty 8 youth.
- Establish and maintain partnerships and networks with community services and programs (e.g., schools, clinics, police, mental health services, and other services) and working together to address the needs of Treaty 8 youth.
- Keep current on all social concerns and trends, and as required, attend professional development activities to remain informed regarding issues that affect Indigenous youth.
- Determine the gaps in service delivery for Treaty 8 youth and recommending strategies for improvement.
- Advocate on behalf of young people and their families to ensure appropriate service options for youth.
- Coordinate and support the development of active youth representation (e.g. a youth committee) to advise on youth issues.
- Tracks and document program sessions with sign in sheets, detailed notes, photos, and any other means deemed appropriate.

**Qualifications**:

- Degree in Human Services or a Diploma in Human Services with two years related experience working with children, youth, and families.
- Working knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office Suite, including Office, Excel, Power Point and Outlook and experience with data collection and data entry
- Must have a valid class 5 driver’s license, reliable transportation with $2 million liability insurance, Driver’s Abstract.
- Satisfactory Criminal Record Check including Vulnerable Sector and Child Intervention (Welfare) Check
- current within three months.
- Knowledge & understanding of Treaty 8 First Nations community, culture and language will be an asset.

Pay: $19.00-$24.00 per hour
