Quality Control Associate

**Purpose of Position**
This document represents a general overview/framework of this job description. It is not intended to be an all-inclusive listing of the job scope of the applicable employee. Quality Control Associate shall examine product for defects and/or deviations from specifications (USDA/CFIA) to ensure condition is acceptable for human consumption. The Quality Control Associate shall cooperate with all personnel to ensure quality standards are met according to customers’ required specifications while adhering to OHS and Food Safety protocols.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Inspect and sample new product according to customer, company and industry standards
- Down stack cases from pallets onto inspection carts
- Take pictures of defects found upon inspection
- Create and distribute Quality Control Reports to pertaining parties, including CFIA Inspection requests
- Monitor current and aged inventory quality to ensure specification requirements are met
- Recommend on how to proceed after inspecting product if defects are present
- Liaise with buyers, customers, and external cross-dock accounts pertaining to product quality or concerns
- Maintain knowledge of CFIA and USDA produce standards
- Maintain, test, calibrate and troubleshoot all instrumentation inspection devices to ensure proper maintenance
- Maintain proper house keeping of inspection stations and carts by cleaning with approved solutions
- Engage in training and knowledge development of Production and QC department personnel
- Other responsibilities relevant to the role will be assigned as required
**Academic & Trade Qualifications**
- 1 - 2 years of previous experience within the produce industry would be an asset
- Post Secondary Graduate in related field would be an asset
- Knowledge of food safety precautions and packaging regulatory standards
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong professionalism and interpersonal skills would be an asset
- Strong attention to detail, along with ability to follow instructions
- Intermediate skills in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
- Ability to lift up to 55 lb, and work in cold storage environment
- Operate power equipment (Forklift, BT, Pallet Jack), training may be provided inhouse
**Salary**: $20.00-$22.00 per hour
