This position is a part of the Association of the Academic Staff of the University of Alberta (AASUA).

In accordance with the Administrative and Professional Officer Agreement, this full-time continuing position offers a comprehensive benefits package found on our Benefits Overview page and annual salary range of $65,348 to $108,916.

**Location**: This is an in-person role and work primarily takes place at University of Alberta Botanic Garden.

**Position Summary**

You will play a pivotal role in materializing the vision, mission, values and strategic pillars by planning, organizing and leading the development of a customer and market model that meets the financial targets needed to become financially self-sustainable. Using your initiative, creativity, drive and collaboration, leveraging the expertise of central service centers, such as External Relations, to help deploy and formalize the discovery, validation, creation and building phases of the customer and market development model for the Garden.

As an organizational leader, this position serves as a member of the Garden leadership team, is a key public face of the Garden, is one of the primary stewards of the guest experience at the Garden, is a primary driver in resource development, and is an enthusiastic advocate internally and externally for making the Garden beautiful and engaging for others.

**Duties**
- Responsible for generating upwards of $1,000,000 in annual revenue generation through multiple mechanisms including but not limited to partnerships, sponsorships, grants, multimedia marketing campaigns, and philanthropic donations;
- Collaborate with other Garden Managers to plan, lead, organize and control fundraising activities in concert with other Manager initiatives, events and business opportunities using data driven metrics to formulate strategic directions and operational plans;
- Work closely with all facets of External Relations to leverage marketing, communications, sponsorship and advancement expertise to plan, lead, organize and control the majority of fundraising initiatives needed throughout the various seasons of operation at the Gardens;
- Develops and implements a vision of excellence for the unit that will contribute to the success of the Garden;
- Creates an annual plan of desired outcomes, achievable and stretch goals and objectives;
- Develops and manages the annual department operating budget and prioritizes and evaluates programs and projects to ensure maximum cost effectiveness; and
- Coordinates and manages all contract services for areas of responsibility.

**Minimum Qualifications**
- Bachelor’s degree and evidence of continuing education;
- Experience managing several challenging projects;
- Experience in relevant project or program management, operations, monitoring and evaluation, strategic change management, and continuous improvement, with a demonstrated track record of suc
