Your Opportunity:
As an MWIV, you will be responsible for providing shift coverage for other full time employees who are on vacation. Additionally, you will be responsible for performing various assigned maintenance tasks when not providing shift coverage. Representative tasks and duties of the position include monitoring, operation and maintenance of complex hospital mechanical systems such as air handling units, heat exchangers, pressure vessels, pumps, compressors, pneumatic tube system equipment, medical vacuum, medical gas and medical air. You will also be responsible for performing a variety of complex building maintenance tasks ranging from plumbing (such as changing a toilet flushometer) to electrical (such as troubleshooting a lack of power to lighting and wall plugs) to architectural (such as repairing doorknobs, hinges and similar). You will also be responsible for providing a quick, effective and well communicated response to emergencies such as floods, major power outages and similar.

Description:
As a Maintenance Worker IV, you will perform a variety of highly skilled and complex maintenance and repair work requiring considerable initiative and judgment in determining the appropriate work methods consistent with standards, regulations and procedures. You will utilize your supervisory and/or maintenance skills and experience to perform preventative maintenance and repair duties on specialized equipment and building control systems, and to provide leadership and direction to other maintenance staff in order to meet operational requirements. In addition, you will perform specialized machine repairs, as well as the maintenance and monitoring of systems and equipment. You may be responsible to resolve escalated operational issues; act as a delegate for the Manager on operational issues; participate in the recruitment and selection of new staff; assisting the design and implementation of preventative maintenance programs; estimate project costs; and liaise with outside agencies and contractors.

**Required Qualifications**:
Completion of post-secondary education in a related field and/or technical certification in a related field required or 4th Class Power Engineer Certificate as per ABSA kW rating guidelines where boiler support is necessary.

**Additional Required Qualifications**:
Seasoned/Specialized technical/professional experience (i.e., 5-7 years) required. 5 years previous experience in building architectural, structural and associated systems maintenance in an institutional setting. Must be knowledgeable in the maintenance and repair of buildings and architectural and structural systems. Must be familiar with the use of tools and equipment necessary to perform required tasks. Very good verbal and written communication skills. Must be reliable, cooperative and capable of working independently. Must possess initiative and be capable of giving direction and supervision as required. Must be familiar with a variety of tools and equipment used in the maintenance program. Must have vendor specific training courses in building systems found in acute care settings.

**Preferred Qualifications**:
Safety training and certificates such as fall protection, confined space, asbestos safety, electrical safety training. Working knowledge of maintenance management software, more specifically e-Facilities.
