New Westminster Schools Career Opportunity TRADES HELPER - CARPENTER (TEMPORARY)

**JOB FUNCTION**:

- Reports to the Director of Facilities & Operations, or designate
- Assists the various tradesmen with indoor and outdoor tasks
- Performs a variety of semi-skilled and other tasks related to the maintenance, repair and upkeep of school district buildings, grounds and equipment
- Assists tradesmen with major repairs, renovations and other assignments as required
- Other related duties as required

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Grade 12 graduation
- Valid BC Driver's licence
- Some demonstrated carpentry experience
- Ability to perform at a basic standard of workmanship in the trade
- Knowledge of basic carpentry practices, methods, materials, tools and equipment (hand tools and power tools, table saw, drill, etc.)
- Ability in basic use of the tools and equipment of the trade
- Ability to understand and effectively carry out an effective work schedule with a minimum of supervision
- Ability to plan and carry out an effective work schedule with a minimum of supervision
- Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with staff, students and the communi

**Hours of Work & Salary**:
40 hours per week, Monday - Friday, 7:00a.m. to 3:30p.m.
- Temporary Assignment ending August 29, 2025, with possibility of extension
- $30.55 per hour
