- As an Appliance Service Technician with Calgary Housing Company (CHC), you will resolve day to day problems which arise with appliances requiring servicing, parts, repairs, installation, maintenance and inspection. Primary duties include:

- Respond to work orders including trouble shooting appliance related issues to determine if repairs are feasible and required,
- Provide recommendations for replacement of appliances/equipment and advise on root causes and other issues observed during site visits that require attention.
- Provide feedback and repairs on appliances, installation methods, and repair solutions to continually improve how appliances are sourced and repairs are completed.
- Document, order, pick up and deliver any parts necessary to complete repairs.
- Ensure that due diligence is taken regarding safety within the unit and building by completing proper inspection and maintenance.

**Qualifications**
- A High School diploma or equivalency (e.g. GED) is required.
- At least 5 years of related experience in appliance service and maintenance.
- A valid Class 5 Driver's License (or provincial equivalent), with no more than 6 demerits and no current suspensions or charges pending.
- An Appliance Service Technician Journeyperson certification will be considered an asset.

**Working Conditions**:This position drives to and from worksites and is exposed to poor living conditions and hazards such as filth, slippery surfaces due to ice and water, and verbal and/or physical abuse causing emotionally stressful situations. This position works with electricity, power tools, and is frequently required to lift or slide equipment and appliances that weigh up to and over 50 pounds.

**Pre-employment Requirements**
- An enhanced security clearance and Vulnerable Sector Search (VSS) will be conducted.
- Must obtain a City of Calgary operator's permit.
- Successful applicants must provide proof of qualifications.

**Pre-employment Drug Test**: An offer of employment for this position will be conditional on an applicant passing a pre-employment drug test. This test assesses for use of drugs including cannabis. Failure to pass a pre-employment drug test may prevent an applicant from being hired into any safety sensitive position for a period of up to twelve months.
