**Job Summary**
- ShiftKey is one of six provincial sandboxes, focused on growing the mindset of computer science and technology students from Halifax and other institutions across Canada. ShiftKey connects students with concepts of idea generation, design thinking, problem-solving, industry engagement, and significant collaboration with other sandboxes. ShiftKey introduces students to solving challenges, provides industry access to top technical talent and allows students to be part of an engaging innovation environment.Reporting to the Director of DeepSense and ShiftKey Labs, the ShiftKey Sandbox Manager will be responsible for the successful management of the sandbox, including supporting students in navigating the programs, opportunities and content available outside of their academic studies. The Manager ensures strong collaborative partnerships across faculties, other sandboxes, other academic institutions and industry partners.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Be the primary face of ShiftKey Sandbox, present for student engagement and active relationship building within the Faculty of Computer Science at Dalhousie, other NS academic institutions, and other provincial Sandboxes and Dal Innovates programs.
- Manage various projects, including planning, organizing, and executing events and programming, working with partners to develop a robust program portfolio, and providing on-site leadership during program delivery.
- Build strong community and industry relationships to support the execution of quality workshops, sessions and hackathons to support student development and community collaboration.
- Ensure responsible and effective data collection, storage, and reporting to capture performance metrics and make improvements.
- Execute operational plans, ensuring resources and systems are in place to achieve planned objectives and effectively monitor for improvements and success.
**Note**
- This position is a one-year term, with the possibility of extension with continued external funding. Occasional work on evenings and weekends is required.
Occasional evening and weekend work, and travel to offices of industry and academic partners will be required. Infrequent interprovincial travel may also occur.
The successful applicant will be eligible for hybrid work (a combination of in-person work on campus and remote work) as agreed by all parties based on operational requirements and university guidelines.
Dalhousie’s vaccine mandate has been suspended at this time, and employees no longer need to provide proof of full vaccination. However, health and safety risks to our community will continue to be monitored and a vaccine mandate may be reinstated if necessary.
**Required Qualifications**
- Undergraduate degree, plus approximately three years’ experience is required, with years related experience (or an equivalent combination of training and experience) is required. A high degree of organizational skill, interpersonal acumen and problem solving ability is required to provide oversight in balancing the multiple priorities, partners, facilities and programs. Excellent oral and written communication skills, and an enthusiasm for working with and encouraging students is required. Must be able to lead effectively and direct different cross-functional programs and projects of varied sizes and types concurrently. Must be able to work both independently, as well as part of a team and be proactive.
