**RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- The OR scheduling clerk, schedules and processes surgical booking requests, register patients and schedules necessary pre-operative requirements
- Schedule and coordinates all surgical booking requests, ensuring all information is recorded completely and accurately
- Registers all booked surgery patient's ensuring demographic and insurance information are current
- Schedules ordered pre-operative tests and informs patients of pre-operative instructions
- Liaises with other departments to coordinate necessary equipment and resources to support sugical activity
- Informs patients of their reporting times for their booked surgery and registration instructions
- Creates an urgent list to accomodate time-senstive cases
- Finalizes OR schedules
- Prepare Patient charts
- Communicates any changes to the schedule to appropriate units affected
- Prepares and calculates OR Utilization Stats
- Creates/updates future OR schedules
- Demonstrate QCH values: collaboration, accountability, innovation and respect

**REQUIREMENTS**:

- Grade 12 education
- Successful completion of/certification in medical terminology from a recognized educational institution
- 1 year related experience
- 6 months clerical/data entry experience (or enrolled in a degree/diploma program)
- Strong information technology/systems skills
- Effective interpersonal skills
- Effective coping skills and the ability to perform multiple demands while working in a fast-paced dynamic work environment
- Work under mínimal supervision, work well within a team and be customer focused
