Atlohsa Family Healing Services is seeking a motivated and dynamic individual to fill the role of **Youth Outreach Worker**. The primary role of the Youth Outreach Worker is to provide crisis intervention, housing support, safety planning, advocacy, one on one and group healing and wellness supports to youth and families who have experienced mental health imbalance, homelessness, violence, and/or human trafficking.

**Role and Responsibility**

Using a wholistic Indigenous-led approach to principles of Harm Reduction and Housing First, the Youth Outreach Worker will offer compassionate and assertive care and support to community members and their families who may be experiencing homelessness, social stigma, unbalanced mental wellness, violence, trauma and substance use. The Youth Outreach Worker provides one on one crisis intervention supports and culture-based group facilitation for Indigenous youth, such as drum night and/or community fires. The Youth Outreach Worker works with the Atlohsa Giiwitaabiwag Knowledge Exchange team and community partners to provide mentorship and skills development opportunities for Indigenous youth. The Youth Outreach Worker will collaborate with the Atlohsa Healing Lodge team to develop youth centered healing supports and conduct outreach and intakes for healing lodge youth programming. The Youth Outreach Worker advocates for participants and will liaison with other social service agencies and provide community and street outreach. The Youth Outreach worker must have excellent communication skills and the ability to plan and facilitate programs and circles to promote wholistic healing values and principles. The Youth Outreach Worker will also participate in agency wide programming and wholistic supports, working closely with the GIwetashkad team on supportive services for community members, including case management with other staff to best support families accessing Atlohsa Family Healing Services.

**Suitability**
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the languages, traditional ways, history and cultures of the Indigenous population in the London region
- Strong analysis of colonialism and the ways in which historical and ongoing colonization impacts Indigenous peoples intergenerationally
- College or university education in social services such as Child and Youth Care and/or other related field is an asset
- Experience working with women and children who have been exposed to violence/abuse and with individuals who are experiencing homelessness
- Demonstrated ability to receive training support, supervision and direction
- Demonstrated strengths in interpersonal relations, problem-solving, crisis intervention, group dynamics, community development and other innovative approaches
- Understanding of cultural safety and an awareness of its impact on practice
- Ability to work in outdoor locations and do minor physical labour such as gathering poles and building lodge
- Skills in conflict resolution, mediation, and negotiation (to build trust and resolve disagreements)
- Excellent organizational and coordination skills and the ability to prioritize multiple competing workload demands in fast paced environment
- Effective communication (both written and verbal) and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with others in a respectful manner as defined in the Atlohsa Code of Conduct
- Valid Ontario Driver’s License, First Aid and CPR certificate and Current Vulnerable Sector Check

**EMPLOYMENT TERM**: Full-Time permanent
