Stat Care Services in Halifax is looking for compassionate, reliable and competent Continuing Care Assistant (CCA's) and Personal Care Workers (PCW's) to join our team and enhance the lives of aging adults throughout our community.
CCA/PCW/PSW and nursing students are also welcome to apply.
Full-time, minimum of 30 hours per week
Part-time, minimum of 8 hours per week
Casual, minimum of 8 hours per month
**Responsibilities and essential job functions**:
Reporting to the Nursing Manager, responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:
- The job demands are to provide care in the following settings: Home care and visiting care agency, public or community health center, rehabilitation center and special health institution, hospital or home for the aged, nursing home/home for the aged, hospital/medical facility or clinic.
- Care must be according to the established care plan ensuring the comfort and safety of clients are met to the greatest possible extent; care must be within the scope of practice of a Continuing Care Assistant.
- Care requirements: assisting or providing complete personal care, assisting/providing with the activities of daily living, supporting physical and emotional well-being, meal preparation, assistance with feeding, light housekeeping and laundering of clients’ personal clothes and linens.
- Observe client conditions and report unusual events or changes in condition.
- Understand and implements infection prevention practices.
- Maintained client records and documentation as required.
- The CCA must also effectively communicate and engage clients in various activities within their environment.
- Maintain confidentiality of client and corporate information and discusses same only with appropriate One Step Up personnel.
- Clients at times require escort to appointments and hospital thus staff must be flexible with reassignment to same.
- Job requires strong physical fitness and individuals must be able to lift up to fifty pounds.
**Summary of Qualifications**:
- Previous related work experience in a similar position or life experience in which similar duties were completed.
- First Aid Certificate, CPR Certificate
- **CCA Certification or PCW/PSW diploma (asset)**:
- **Related caregiving training courses are required**:
- **Valid Criminal Record Check and vulnerable sector check are required.**:
- Strong communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills
- **Highly responsible & reliable**:
- Ability to work under pressure with a combination of sitting, standing, walking; bending, crouching, and kneeling
- Ability to work cohesively as part of a team
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
- Ability to focus attention on clients’ needs, remaining calm and courteous at all times
- Ability to work daytime, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays as required.

Part-time hours: 8-48 per week
**Salary**: $18.75-$21.00 per hour
