**Pay band**: Manager $55,460 - $95,000
Target pay$60,000 - $75,000

This role may require work or travel outside normal business hours and is compensated time for time.

**Role overview and purpose**:
The Venture Manager ensures the smooth advancement of startups in NEXT Canada programs and maintains the Next AI/Next Canada operations. Through this position, the role is responsible for recruiting, evaluating and supporting companies working in the fields of artificial intelligence. Finally, the venture manager provides support to the program's stakeholder relations and takes all the initiatives necessary for the growth and continuous improvement of our programs. More specifically:
**Recruitment of Startups**:

- Participate in the development and execution of recruitment strategies.
- Evaluate startups that have applied to the program and that participate in the selection interviews.
- Participate and assist in the organization of recruitment events.

**Startup Support**:

- Regularly monitor startups to evaluate and document their progress as a company within our programs.
- Provide operational support to startups according to their needs, be it advisory, networking, moral or personal support, or other.
- Guide startups within the program and support them through their personal learnings.
- Evaluate the companies at the various stages of their funding allocation, then prepare and present recommendations to the evaluation committee.
- Cultivate resources and creatively problem solve

**Operations Support**:

- Provide support in the planning and execution of official program events.
- Carry out business development at internal and external program events to develop a network.
- Identify mentors and other experts who can support businesses.
- Support with evaluation metrics and reporting

**Other Tasks**:

- Support communication strategies (social media, public relations, etc.) in collaboration with the communication team.
- Participate in the nurturing of relationships and ensure deadlines are met for corporate partners.
- Support the team with any other relevant task or file that might require attention.
- curate and support events.

**Qualifications**:

- Extreme organizational skills and methodical work habits are essential
- Strong investigative as well as communication skills
- Problem solver & entrepreneurial mindset
- A background in entrepreneurship, technology innovation, venture capital, teaching or community building
- Proficiency using Google tools
- Skills using Airtable and SalesForce an asset
- French language proficiency would be an advantage but not essential.

Education and experience
- Undergrad degree or diploma in business administration or any other discipline deemed relevant
- Minimum of 4 years of relevant work experience, particularly in the field of startups, venture capital, or technology companies

Knowledge specific to the role
- Very good knowledge of startups' business processes and growth issues
- Familiar with financial modeling, market research and strategic planning
- Good knowledge of commonly used software and technological environments
