**Position Summary**
The Porter is responsible for moving goods and equipment from venue to venue and storage to floor. The Porter will ensure the timely execution of events by assisting the culinary and logistics team. The Porter is responsible for maintaining a safe and healthy work environment by ensuring all work areas remain free of debris, uncluttered and all chemicals stored, used and maintained according to WHIMIS standards.
**Responsibilities**
Responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:
- Deliver the event assets to required venue by driving van and cube
- Operate forklift/power equipment to transport assets
- Coordinate service equipment with other user groups and put away equipment at the end of events
- Set the event back of house tables and all other event requirements
- Replenish consumable assets as required during an event
- Manage and maintain the food and beverage equipment, including daily inspection to ensure safe operation and proper storage, and reporting any equipment deficiencies to supervisor
- Maintain assets through repairs, replacement and measures to prevent theft
- Maintain the asset storage areas in a clean and orderly fashion
- Monitor the daily operation of kitchen washing equipment, proper water temperatures, and mechanical operation and cleaning agent levels
- Remove waste, composting and recycling
- Do laundry as required
- Perform physical inventory counts of consumable and non-consumable products
- Assist the logistics team with other duties as needed
**Qualifications and Education Requirements**
- Minimum High School Preferred
- Minimum of 18 years of age preferred
- Class 5 Drivers License (Non-GDL) required
- Fork Lift Certification is preferred
- Ability to communicate effectively and work well within a team environment
- Capacity to work well under pressure and meet production schedules
- Clear thinker with the aptitude to analyze and resolve problems
- Ability to prioritize, organize and follow through as necessary
**Working Conditions**
- Occasional lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs.
- Continuous arm, hand and finger movements; standing for long periods of time; crouching, kneeling, reaching and bending; exposure to dust, fumes, gases, odors and animal dander.
- Visual and color acuity required.
