**Food Service Supervisor**

**SOUTHLAKE RESIDENTIAL CARE VILLAGE**

Responsible to the Dietary Manager, or in her absence, the Executive Director, the Food Service Supervisor, as a member of the Home’s team; meets and confers with the Dietary Manager on a regular basis to discuss, report conditions and progress in the department according to policy. Ensure residents safety by following established policies and procedures.

**KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY**
- Responsible for clinical duties including completing MDS assessments, monthly weight entries, clinical documentation, and completes dietary follow ups and adjustments
- Work with registered dietitian to implement and maintain diet orders and accompanying documentations
- Attends Interdisciplinary Care Conferences and new admission meetings and completes accompanying documentations
- May assist the Dietary Manager in inventory management and control, including food and supply purchasing and other departmental costs within budget
- Assists in Quality Improvement and Risk Management
- Participates in planning and delivery of special facility events
- Assists the Dietary Manager with Scheduling
- Ensures that the department adheres to provincial, legislative and corporate standards e.g. infection control procedures, WSIB/WCB
- Coaches, mentors and supervises departmental staff on shift; assists the Dietary Manager in the provision of educational programs
- Respect and preserve the privacy, confidentiality and security of health care and employee information at all times.
- Completes various dietary, sanitation and meal service audits

Qualifications **Current membership in the Canadian Society of Nutritional Management (C.S.N.M.) or a Registered Dietician **required
- Successful completion of a recognized Food Service Supervisor Program
- 1-2 years Food Service Supervisor/Dietary Manager experience in an institutionalized setting _preferred_, preferably long term care
- Experience in managing within a unionized setting preferred
- Working Knowledge of: Human Resources Management & Labour Relations, Planning, Financial Management and Budgeting Principles, Long Term Care Industry, Applicable Contractual & Legislative Requirements, CQI Principles, Inventory and Control Management
- Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English
- High level of composure, ability to work well under pressure.
- Intermediate to advanced computer software skills including MS Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access
- Basic keyboarding skills.
- Excellent organizational skills - exceptional ability to prioritize.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills - capable of dealing with variety of employee emotions
- Regular attendance on-site is a requirement of the position
