**Description**
The Supervisor - Maintenance and Plant Operations will oversee the maintenance and repairs of electrical, plumbing, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC), carpentry, painting, and other building systems. The supervisor is responsible for providing supervision to the maintenance department staff and participating full scope HR functions including but not limited to participation in the hiring and training of maintenance team members, in the planning and overseeing of maintenance team schedules and the work of the maintenance staff and the efficient processing of payroll responsibilities.
This role will provide input into and be responsible for conducting staff performance evaluations that are timely and constructive. In conjunction with the manager, the supervisor is responsible for ensuring departmental compliance with the collective agreement(s) and applicable policies, procedures, and code of conduct expectations.

**Qualifications**
- Must possess a Building Maintenance Certificate or equivalent
- A minimum of five (5) years of maintenance experience required, a combination of applicable education and experience may be considered
- Four years of related experience in a hospital or other similar area
- Previous leadership experience in a unionized work environment an asset
- Proficient with Microsoft office suite and relevant computer software programs
- Ability to make sound judgments and quality decisions regarding work related activities and staff performance
- Demonstrate high motivation and initiative in all aspects of duties and responsibilities
- Willingness to participate in continuing education inside and outside the facility
- Must possess a valid class “G” Ontario Driver’s License
- Grade 12 Diploma or equivalent
- Ability to read and interpret schematics and drawings quickly and accurately
- Ability to lift and carry objects of various weights
- Experience in minor carpentry, painting, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical repairs
- Must be familiar with HVAC equipment and controls
- Physical capacity to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, handle, finger, feel, climb, and balance on ladders and scaffolds
- Good hearing ability to recognize sounds that indicate equipment malfunctioning, emergency sirens, paging, and warning devices
- Colour vision to identify coloured wires, pipes, etc.
- Numerical ability to compute arithmetic calculations in testing, installing, and estimating
- Spatial perception to visualize equipment and layout of the relationship of parts from circuit diagrams or drawings from perception to recognize structural or mechanical defects in all equipment
- Eye-hand-finger coordination and manual dexterity to handle parts and use hand tools, power tools and test equipment
- Finger dexterity to pick up and install a variety of small parts
- Ability to handle a variety of changing duties resulting from the complexities of all apparatus and equipment
- Adaptability to work in situations involving exposure to high voltage wiring, heights, confined spaces, moving parts, chemicals, odours, dust, adverse weather, and environmental conditions such as heat, humidity and cold
- Dependable, competent, and continued ability to carry out responsibilities
