As a Machinist Trainee, you will begin to learn the art of becoming an experienced
Machinist, with the ability to set up and operate various machinery, including lathes, mills, band saws and eventually CNC machines.
Production Band Saws
- Set-up and operate production band-saws to optimize the material cutting process
- Conduct measurements and mathematical calculations to determine material saw cutting requirements ensuring cut quality and accuracy
- Cut and prepare test samples per process specifications
- Other items as per saw operator position description
Manual Machinist
- Set up and operate manual equipment
- Read and interpret blueprints
- Machine product to specified requirements as defined within production shop orders, drawings, sketches or as directed by Patriot Forge management
CNC Machinist
- Set up and operate CNC equipment using CNC controls
- Calibrate tools and offsets
- Program CNC Machines at the controls for basic work pieces
- Read and interpret blueprints
- Machine product to specified requirements as defined within production shop orders, drawings, sketches or as directed by Patriot Forge management
Other
- Operate overhead cranes and forklifts for material handling of large product
- Maintain equipment in a safe and productive condition, including but not limited to, regular routine lubrication, cleaning and maintaining coolant levels
- Practice excellent general housekeeping, including but not limited to, his/her work area, chip removal, floor areas, benches and storage areas to ensure a safe work environment
- Maintain measuring instruments in proper working condition by regular cleaning and storing instruments in a safe location both during and after use
- Comply with company policies and procedures
- Perform additional responsibilities as required and appointed by management
To be considered for this Trainee opportunity, you must possess
- High school diploma required
- Previous experience working with steel would be an asset
- Familiarity with material handling equipment (overhead cranes and forklifts) and the safe handling of large objects an asset
- Good command of the English language both written and verbal
- Simple trigonometry calculations required
- Demonstrated communication, problem solving, interpersonal and analytical skills
- Ability to work with little supervision
