THE ROLE
We are actively looking for an Intern Analyst, Portfolio Construction & Investment Risk, to join our team in Summer 2025, for a 4-month internship (May 2025 - August 2025). This role will be part of a growing and dynamic Investment team, reporting into the Senior Director, Investment Risk. The incumbent will provide analytical support to the team in the development of UPP’s long-term asset allocation framework, total fund investment process, portfolio monitoring and investment research.
This role is based in downtown Toronto under a hybrid work policy, allowing employees the flexibility to work remotely and in-office (minimum of two days per week in-office).
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Increase knowledge of UPP’s long-term investment strategy and asset classes to support risk analysis and monitoring of portfolios. Building and development of total fund analytical tools and dashboards will be key.
- Support analysis related to asset liability studies, including maintenance of UPP’s Capital Market Assumptions.
- Assist in analyzing core UPP investments, including alternative assets, from a total risk and factor perspective.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Currently pursuing a Master’s degree, in Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science, Finance or a related field.
- Proficient in programming (e.g., VBA, Python, Matlab).
- Possesses basic knowledge of and a keen interest in finance.
