COMPANY BACKGROUND

Role Overview
As a key member of Tree Island Steel's Maintenance Department, our Machinists play an important role in performing preventative maintenance and repairs to ensure optimal machinery performance and reliability. Within our 400,000 square feet manufacturing facility, we have over 8,000 pieces of equipment and machinery including galvanizing lines, wiredraw machines, mesh machines, nail machines, packing lines. You will get on-going exposure to a wide range of machinery. This role requires membership in the Teamsters Union, Local 213.

Main Responsibilities
- Set up and operate all machine tools such as lathes, milling machine saws, grinding machines, drilling and boring machines, shapers, planers, precision measuring tools, and hand and power tools.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and work orders to determine the required machining processes.
- Responsible for carrying through to completion, the construction, assembly, installation and repair of a wide variety of metal parts, tools, and machines and usually involves working with large and heavy pieces as well as various small instruments.
- Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on machining equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety

Compensation
- Base Pay:

- $46.82 per hour
- Premiums:

- Tool Premium $0.20 per hour

Hours of Work
- Monday to Friday, 6:00am - 2:30pm

What You’ll Bring
- BC or Inter-provincial Machinist Trade Qualification
- Minimum of 5 years related work experience in a heavy industrial environment as a Machinist
- Strong problem-solving skills, ability to recognize and assist in resolving issues
- Ability to work independently with mínimal supervision
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- High aptitude for quick learning
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Computer literacy and data entry skills
