**Policy Analyst, Full-time (35 hours/week)**
The BC Aboriginal Child Care Society (BCACCS) is a Centre of Excellence for Indigenous Early Learning and Child Care (ELCC) that is committed to ensuring every Indigenous child in BC has access to spiritually enriching, culturally based, high quality early learning and childcare services.
**Position Overview**
**Key Responsibilities**
- Plan, coordinate, and lead policy research projects on a range of First Nations ELCC topics, including governance models, funding structures, and jurisdictional pathways.
- Monitor and analyze legislative, regulatory, and public policy developments to assess their implications for First Nations-led ELCC and identify opportunities for advancing First Nations governance.
- Develop policy briefs, reports, presentations, and other knowledge products to support BCACCS’s policy initiatives and inform First Nations leadership and other stakeholders on key policy issues.
- Provide policy and strategic advice to support BCACCS’s advocacy efforts, ensuring policy positions and recommendations align with First Nations priorities and governance approaches.
- Work collaboratively across BCACCS teams to integrate policy initiatives with the First Nations ELCC Framework and support broader ELCC systems development.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with key First Nations/Indigenous sectoral partners to identify and advance policy options.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of engagement and consultation strategies.
- Support the coordination of leadership forums, workshops, and working groups to strengthen First Nations' capacity for ELCC governance and decision-making.
- Represent BCACCS at conferences, working groups, and forums related to First Nations/Indigenous ELCC policy, governance, and jurisdiction.
**Education and Experience**
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in policy analysis, program development, or advocacy, with a focus on Indigenous policy, ELCC, or related fields.
- A degree in Public Policy & Administration, Indigenous Governance, Law, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Knowledge of Indigenous governance and policy development, social policy, or related fields.
- Experience conducting legislative analysis and designing policy frameworks that support First Nations/Indigenous-led ELCC.
- Strong research, writing, and analytical skills with the ability to synthesize complex issues into policy briefs, reports, presentations, and actionable recommendations.
- Proven ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders, including Indigenous communities, leadership, and government representatives.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in diverse and complex environments.
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365, data analysis tools, and online communication platforms.
- Experience working with or for Indigenous communities or organizations is considered an asset.
- Knowledge of the Indigenous ELCC sector in BC, including relevant federal and provincial policies, funding structures, and key stakeholders, is considered an asset.
**What We Offer**
- $70,000-$73,000 (commensurate with education and experience)
