**Position Title: Hydrovac Operator**
**Location: Edmonton, Alberta**
**Type: Full Time (Seasonal), Hourly**
Kichton Contracting Ltd. Is looking for an experienced, full time (seasonal) **Hydrovac Operator.** We are looking for an outgoing, adaptable individual looking to learn and grow within our team and industry.
The Hydrovac Operator is responsible for the safe operation of the hydrovac for soil trenching, debris removal, exposing and locating underground utility lines, and more. The Hydrovac Operator must be able to work safely and efficiently and positively participate in our Company safety culture.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Review, understand, and follow all safe work practices and procedures.
- Willing and able to learn general construction practices involving the safe operation of the Hydrovac.
- Set up and break down of the job site.
- Operate or assist operator with hydrovac-ing.
- Spot and have general awareness of the job site and communicate with the Hydrovac Operator about any hazards.
- Complete daily documentation thoroughly, including: FLHAs (Field Level Hazard Assessments), timesheets, pre
- and post-inspections of all tools and equipment, and any other paperwork required.
- Report incidents, near misses, equipment damage, and hazards to Supervisors immediately.
- Positively participate in all toolbox talks and all applicable company/site meetings.
- Tidy, inspect, and perform basic maintenance (top-up fluids, grease, clean tracks, etc.) for all equipment they’re operating.
- Operating other pieces of equipment or vehicles if trained and competent on them.
- Groundwork as required.
**Required Qualifications**:
- Must be 18 years of age
- Previous experience working as a Hydrovac Swamper is preferred
- Valid class 3Q driver’s license (clean abstract).
- Must have reliable transportation to get to and from work.
- Valid CSTS-2020
- Valid WHMIS 2015 certification

**Working Conditions**:
- Fast-paced work environment with long hours (up to 14 hours/day) and labour-intensive tasks.
- Repetitive bending and lifting (up to 50 pounds).
- Repetitive climbing in and out of equipment.
- Dusty and dirty work environment.
- Various weather conditions including sun exposure/heat, cold weather, snow/frost, and rain.
