**About the Position**

**Job Type**:Part-time, hourly - hours can range from 4-15/week depending on availability and client bookings
**Target Start Date**: Mid/Late August 2025
**Required availability**: Evenings & weekends

**Specific responsibilities**:

- Evaluate clients' current fitness level, personal goals, and skills. Develop personalized training programs for clients to follow and monitor client's progress.
- Demonstrate how to carry out various exercises and routines.
- Watch clients do exercises and show or tell them correct techniques to minimize injury and improve fitness.
- Accountable for beginning & ending on time; providing adequate warm-up, exercises, stretching, & cool down.
- Identify and provide alternative exercises during workouts for different levels of fitness, skill, and physical abilities.
- Monitor clients’ progress and adapt programs as needed.
- Explain & enforce safety rules & facility policies (i.e. use of fitness equipment).
- Give clients information or resources about nutrition, weight control, & lifestyle issues within your scope of practice.
- Drive and support SLSC marketing initiatives.
- Keep management informed of customer and facility needs.
- _ Options may exist to also work as a Fitness Centre Representative or Group Fitness Instructor, depending on interest, availability, and certifications._

**Qualifications**:

- Certified Personal Trainer - AFLCA, CanFitPro, or equivalent.
- CPR certification is required.
- Customer-service skills: Fitness trainers and instructors must sell their services, motivating clients to sign up for the programs they lead. Fitness trainers and instructors must therefore be polite, friendly, and encouraging to maintain relationships with their clients.
- Demonstrated skills in: active listening, motivating others, physical fitness, problem-solving, and public speaking.
- Your knowledge of fitness, sport and wellness is augmented by a “customer first” service approach, commitment to positive communication and the ability to motivate others in a respectful manner.
- Demonstrate flexibility & initiative to promote & achieve innovation in the workplace or coaching environment.
