Gonzo izakaya has been 4 years and located on the beautiful west end of the city on college & dovercourt. We are looking for a stunning culinary person to fit to our BOH team.

We are mainly doing Yakitori, Japanese small snacks (Otsumami).

We are aiming to bring the nostalgic feeling of Tokyo 1980-90's showa retro vibe.

Line / prep cook will be mainly helping the chef to bring the best flavour of Japanese taste to Toronto.

Most of the teams are Japanese, if you are interested in Japanese cuisine, culture, language, they would be assets.

**DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**
- **Following the FIFO method to maximize the freshness of ingredients**:

- **Performing prep list day to day properly**:

- **Following the station set-up and preparing food according to the recipe, portion size, proper presentation.**:

- **Following safe food handling procedures at all times**:

- **Working collaboratively with BOH team members**:

- **Treating their colleagues with respect and dignity at all times**

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- **1-2 years of cooking experience in a commercial restaurant ( NOT fast food restaurants)**:

- **A Culinary diploma is an asset**:

- **Basic understanding of professional cooking and knife handling skills**:

- **Ability to take direction and work calmly and effectively under pressure**:

- **Able to spend 100% of the time standing**:

- **Speaking / understanding Japanese is an asset, not mandatory**:

- **Experience cooking and handling food in a commercial restaurant**:

- **Excellent communication and organizational skills**:

- **Positive and respectful attitude.**:

- **Ability to lift items of up to 40 lbs.**

**Job Types**: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent

Pay: $17.20-$20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 - 30 per week
