We are a high-end, luxurious retirement residence looking for a **Casual housekeeper **to join our rapidly expanding team. This position would require you to work **weekends **and **pick up occasional shifts when coverage is needed.**

**Job Summary**:
Performs housekeeping and cleaning activities within established guidelines.

**Responsibilities**:

- Follow cleaning schedule (daily, weekly, monthly, etc.) as outlined for housekeeping department
- Clean assigned areas, furnishings, fixtures, carpet spot cleans, according to established housekeeping procedures
- Clean floors, dry mops, wet mops, sweeps, disinfects where and when necessary. Perform emergency housekeeping, when accidents occur
- Clean movable and stationary furnishings and fixtures, dusts, spot cleans and washes, disinfects when necessary, polishes where required, changes linens and towels, etc. when soiled. Cleans ledges, shelves, vents, etc.
- Empty and clean ashtrays. Empties, cleans and relines waste baskets and recycling bins. Straightens or rearranges furniture as directed. Inspects furnishings for both wear and defects, and reports to supervisor
- Clean bathrooms (resident, private, public and staff). Cleans and disinfects all fixtures, floors and walls as directed. Washes windows and mirrors. Replenishes bathroom supplies
- Remove garbage and dispose
- Perform other duties as assigned

**Skills/Qualifications**:

- Ability to follow written and oral instructions
- Good communication skills especially with seniors
- Some understanding of chemicals and equipment used in cleaning would be an asset

**Physical Demands**:

- Considerable lifting, stretching, reaching, crouching, kneeling, pushing, pulling, standing, walking and bending.

**Working Condition**:

- Exposure to chemicals, body waste, garbage and dust.
- Shift work (on-call)
- May be required to work night shifts
