**Brazeau County** is looking to fill a **one-year term position** for a **full-time Health and Safety Technician**.

The Health and Safety Technician works in close relation with the Safety Coordinator to support the deliverables of Brazeau County’s Safety Program. The Health and Safety Technician assists with data management from incoming reports, inspections, and incidents, and provides follow up on actionable items. This position is responsible for being a safety program representative to internal team members and has knowledge of the County’s Safety Program to assist with inquiries and requests as needed.

**Responsibilities**:

- Assist with the regular reviews and continuous updates of Brazeau County’s safety program including documentation, manuals, forms, and reports for procedures, processes, and practices.
- Provide support and assistance in the preparation, compilation, and distribution of monthly department reports as needed.
- Provides system administrator support for the implementation and maintenance of the County’s safety reporting software program, including assisting staff with account access, training, and troubleshooting.
- Develop and maintain employee training certification database and track required training renewal dates.
- Process documents and ensures accurate record keeping and file management, including scanning and uploading documents to appropriate filing system software.
- Researches current safe work procedures and policies for updates or implementation.
- Assist with coordinating, arranging, and preparing for safety meetings, employee orientations, training courses, audits, and workshops.
- Assist with internal monthly and yearly audits by completing database management, report preparation, and updating and tracking forms.
- Assist with the follow up documentation and statistics for post incident or near miss situation to ensure the safety program is meeting appropriate corrective actions and prevention measures.
- Ensure the completeness and maintenance of all records, documents, and reports relating to the National Safety Codes (NSC) program.
- Assist with preparations and attends regularly scheduled safety meetings.
- Accountable for working in compliance with the _Alberta Occupational Health and Safety Act_ (OH & S), regulations and codes, and acts as steward of the Health and Safety Program.
- To undertake any other reasonable duty, commensurate with the classification and responsibility of the position, across the department in order to meet service priorities and business continuity requirements.
- May be required in the event of a municipal emergency to support the emergency operations centre and incident action/recovery plan.

**Competency Areas**:
**Education/Training**:

- A post-secondary Occupational Health and Safety Certificate or similar equivalency is required.
- A combination of education and experience will be considered.

**Licenses/Certifications/Designation**:

- A valid Class 5 Driver's License is required.
- A satisfactory Five-Year Commercial Driver’s Abstract is required.

**Experiences/Knowledge/Skills**:

- A minimum of one-year related work experience is required.
- A minimum of two years experience working in an office environment is required.
- Thorough knowledge of Office 365 including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams
- High standard of professionalism when providing internal and external customer service
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work well in a team environment
- Detail oriented with proven ability to work efficiently with mínimal supervision
- Excellent organizational skills with abilities to multi-task, prioritize work and meet deadlines
- Must be reliable, punctual and competent

**Compensation and Classification**:

- Term position for 12 months with possibility of an extension
- Full-time, 37.5 hours per week
- Monday to Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm with a one-hour lunch break.
- Participates in the earned flex day program
- Full benefits and pension after three months
- Salary starting range from $61,283 to $69,387
- Non-union
- Non-supervisory
