At **Happy Kids Nutrition Academy**, we empower children around the world to build lifelong healthy habits through fun, interactive, and science-based online classes. Our mission is to make nutrition and wellness education engaging, accessible, and enjoyable, helping kids learn how to care for their bodies while having fun.

**Position Overview**
We’re looking for a passionate, enthusiastic **Online Instructor** to join our virtual teaching team this fall. If you love working with children and are excited about promoting healthy living, this is a fantastic opportunity to make a real impact.

**Current Hiring Need**
We are currently seeking an instructor to **begin teaching on September 11, 2025**, for the following two online courses:
**1. Cultural Studies in Nutrition**

Schedule: Thursdays and Fridays, 2:00 PM - 2:50 PM EST

Duration: 9 weeks

Topics include:

- Personal food stories and identity
- Cultural, social, and geographic influences on food
- Global cuisines (Asian, Latin American, African)
- Food in the media
- Impact of colonialism and migration on cuisine
- Food insecurity, food justice, and activism
- Creative food expression through writing and photography

**2. Introduction to Food Science and Food Technology**

Schedule: Thursdays and Fridays, 1:00 PM - 1:45 PM EST

Duration: 11 weeks

Topics include:

- Food composition (carbs, fats, proteins, vitamins, minerals)
- Digestion, metabolism, and energy expenditure
- Heat and cold preservation, dehydration, fermentation
- Food deterioration and food quality factors
- Cereal grains, legumes, eggs, dairy, fats and oils
- Confectionery science and food labeling
- Food safety, sanitation, water systems, and HACCP
- Food allergies and intolerances

**Applicants must have a strong background in science** to effectively teach these NGSS-aligned topics. Familiarity with core food science principles such as processing methods, composition, preservation, and nutritional labeling is essential.

**What You'll Do**
- Teach small-group Zoom classes (2-6 students) for ages 13-18
- Follow ready-made 9-11 week lesson plans using canva
- Guide students through hands-on lab-style activities using household items
- Manage class resources and curriculum through Google Drive

**Key Responsibilities**
- Deliver fun, interactive, and age-appropriate lessons
- Foster a supportive and inclusive virtual classroom environment
- Simplify complex science and nutrition concepts for younger learners
- Adapt teaching approaches to meet various learning styles
- Maintain clear and professional communication with families and the team

**Qualifications**
- Bachelor’s degree (or third-year standing) in Nutrition, Dietetics, Food Science, or a related scientific field
- Deep understanding of scientific food topics including processing, safety, digestion, and composition
- At least 1 year of online teaching experience with children
- Strong communication skills and experience presenting scientific ideas in an engaging, kid-friendly way
- Proficiency with Zoom, Canva, and Google Drive
- Must be a U.S. or Canadian citizen
- Reliable high-speed internet
- Quiet, distraction-free teaching environment
- Police background check required

**Job Type**: Casual

Pay: $28.00 per hour

Expected hours: 4 per week
