Calgary, Canada KLS Earthworks Full time

KLS Earthworks & Environmental is seeking an experienced Field Surveyor to join our team, playing a critical role in supporting the success of our construction projects.

Key Responsibilities
- Perform conventional and GPS surveys using a variety of survey equipment, including Topcon Total Stations (including Robotic Total Stations), **Commercial UAV** and advanced GNSS receivers.
- Conduct topographic, construction layout, as-built, and volumetric surveys.
- Complete machine control support, including GNSS dozer calibration, troubleshooting, and data transfer.
- Collect and manage accurate survey data, ensuring quality control and accuracy in all field measurements.
- Provide stakeout and layout services for grading, excavation, and underground utilities installations.
- Reporting to the Survey Manager and working closely with project managers, foremen, equipment operators, and other site personnel to ensure layout work aligns with project requirements and design plans
- Ensure equipment is properly maintained and calibrated.
- Maintain accurate field notes and records, and assist in preparing survey reports.
- Adhere to KLS safety policies and actively participate in site safety meetings and hazard assessments.
- Work safely in all weather conditions and terrains, ensuring effective communication with the site team to maintain a safe work environment.

Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum 2 years of field surveying experience in civil construction, earthworks, or environmental projects.
- Experience working with Topcon Total Stations (including Robotic Total Station) and advanced GNSS receivers.
- **Canadian Civil** and** Commercial UAV License** considered an asset.
- Proficient with 3D-MC2 and machine control systems.
- Experience with GNSS dozer calibration and troubleshooting.
- Strong data collection and management skills using survey software and data controllers.
- Proven experience working in varied terrain and weather conditions.
- Safety-focused with the ability to effectively communicate hazards, layouts, and plans to site teams.
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract.
- Strong work ethic aligned with KLS Core Values: Help First, Hungry, Willing to Learn, and Committed.

Working Conditions
- Work primarily outdoors in active construction sites, including exposure to varying weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, snow).
- Physical work including walking on uneven terrain, climbing, bending, and lifting equipment.
- Travel to various project sites around Calgary and surrounding areas.
