We seek excellent students, faculty, and staff to join us in what has become known as the "Western Experience" - an opportunity to contribute to a better world through the development of new knowledge, new abilities, new connections, and new ways to make a difference. **About Us**: **Responsibilities**: The Communications Officer is responsible for managing the development, implementation, monitoring and assessment of a broad range of communications and marketing initiatives within the Faculty of Law, with a goal of building and promoting Western Law's brand and reputation locally, nationally, and internationally. The role will manage communications and marketing efforts, and provide advice on related matters to the Dean, faculty members, staff and other stakeholders, as well as work in collaboration to implement communications processes and practices, with a focus on positioning Western Law as the leading law school in Canada. The role will generate positive news and media coverage of the Faculty, and ensure adherence with University policies and guidelines. **Qualifications**: - Education: - Undergraduate Degree in Information & Media Students, English/Literature, Journalism or Related Program **Experience**: - 3 years’ experience implementing communications plans, marketing and/or journalism, with responsibility for managing projects and developing communications Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: - In-depth knowledge of e-communication tools, including website and graphic design principles with knowledge of social media platforms relevant to student populations - Knowledge of theory and best practices in media relations and public affairs and of marketing trends and best practices - In-depth knowledge of principles of writing, including grammar and style, argument, and coherence and attention to detail, proofreading abilities and an excellent - command of the English language- Ability to collaborate across internal and external boundaries to meet common objectives, improve outcomes and support work beyond one's own unit - Compelling and persuasive communication skills to engage individuals and teams inside and outside the University - Ability to analyze metrics and consider past communications to craft engaging written communications using social media or other appropriate channels - Ability to think creatively and use a non-prescriptive approach in marketing and communications initiatives - Critical thinking and analytical skills to assess complex higher education issues of concern to stakeholders, including the media, the public, and prospective donors - Demonstrated intercultural competency and knowledge of cross-cultural research and work practices - Ability to ensure expenditures and resources are within allotments, and to make appropriate modifications when required - Ability to learn and use relevant software; Intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite - Results-oriented with the ability to motivate and coach employees to meet high performance standards, while working effectively as a member of the leadership team - Project management skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously from conception to completion within tightly prescribed timelines - Ability to strategically incorporate photography into a variety of communication channels; photography skills with an ability to take and edit photos and manage a photo database **Western Values Diversity**: **Please Note**: Effective September 7, 2021, all employees and visitors to campus are required to comply with Western's COVID-19 Vaccination Policy.
