**Job Description**:
***: Under the general supervision of the Supervisor Golf Services/ Supervisor - Parks Operations North, performs maintenance and repairs to small motors, tools, and equipment operated by the City of Thunder Bay.
**MAJOR TASKS**:
- Repairs and maintains all small motors, tools, and equipment including hydraulics, diesel, and gas-powered equipment.
- Prioritizes equipment repair and maintenance work.
- Maintains a preventative maintenance program on all equipment, and purchases repair parts and replacement supplies.
- Maintains a complete set of records including materials used, hours worked, etc. for each piece of equipment required.
- Cleans and maintains shop working area.
- Provides technical guidance and assistance to staff regarding preventative maintenance and the proper cleaning and safe operation of equipment.
- Sharpens, adjusts, and repairs all reel mowers as required.
- Performs other related duties as may be required.
**QUALIFICATIONS**:
**Education/Experience**:
- Secondary school graduation together with a certificate in small engine repair or an equivalent combination of education, experience, and proficiency level
- Knowledge and work experience with diesel engine repair, hydraulics, turf equipment, electrical systems is required
- Knowledge of welding would be an asset
- Must be able to acquire the ability to sharpen and adjust reel to bedknife mowers with training
- Must be competent within the meaning of Occupational Health and Safety Act (as amended) and be capable of issuing clearly understandable written and oral instructions
**Skills/Abilities**
- Must possess and maintain a valid Class “G” Ontario Driver’s Licence, or equivalent
- Must meet the definition of a competent driver as defined by the Corporation
**CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT**:
- Must remain a competent driver as defined by the Corporation
- May be required to provide a successful driver’s record (uncertified)
