Hydrovac Operator

Our Vaughan (550 Bowes Rd in Concord) location has a requirement for Hydrovac Operators/Swampers who will be responsible for the safe and successful completion of hydro excavation work assigned, as well as various support work connected to excavation.

Starting rate**:Swamper/Helper rate $36.51; Operator/Tradesperson rate $40.57** In addition, 10% vacation/holiday pay, $10.14/hr pension contributions and participation in the union benefit plan which includes health, dental, vision, life insurance, etc.

**Requirements**:

- Swamper/Helper must have a valid G class license at minimum.
- Operator, DZ / ARZ / AZ is required.
- A clean driver’s abstract must be maintained.
- Experience working in the construction industry, site preparation and restoration
- Previous experience in hydro excavation is preferred. Experience in sewer and water main is an asset.
- Various support work connected to excavation required.
- Mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot issues and equipment, including preventative maintenance.
- Driving experience with all weather and road conditions.
- Good reading, verbal and written English skills.
- Ability to read and understand all road signage.
- Safety oriented, proactive and positive approach in the workplace.
- Self-motivated, collaborative and able to work harmoniously within a team environment.

**Working Conditions**
- Open availability Monday to Friday, with weekend and after hours (nights) availability as needed. Short notice work and overtime as required.
- Safety equipment will be required such as, but not limited to: hard hat, safety boots, safety glasses, face mask/respirators, fall protection.
- Able to meet the physical requirements of the position which involves sitting, standing, bending, climbing, lifting (up to 60 pounds), working at heights, in confined spaces
- Work environment: outdoors, public areas, construction sites or similar. Exposure to all seasonal weather, work areas that are dirty, dusty, wet and noisy
- Must be fully COVID-19 vaccinated (Project client requirement).
- LiUNA local 183 member in good standing, or will be required to become a member.
