**Job Summary**:
This position is responsible for safely, effectively, and efficiently processing work orders. The position of Compounding Technician is directly accountable to the Production Manager for driving results that contributes to the Company’s success in the following key business areas: Safety, Quality and Delivery. This position is responsible for operating compound equipment to produce PVC pellets within the specification of the order while adhering to health and safety and quality standards.
**Responsibilities**:
- **Safety: Create and reinforce an environment of safe work practices and safe work conditions**. Work safely by following all Company safety rules and WSIB regulations. Immediately report accidents, injuries, and safety hazards to the appropriate personnel. Make suggestions to management and/or Safety Committee to improve safe work practices
- **Quality: Show personal commitment to delivering exceptional customer service to those outside and inside the Company**. Ensure that production activities meet Company-established quality standards and that non-conforming items are handled correctly
- **Delivery**: **Show interest, passion, energy, and willingness in performing assigned tasks. **Complete work assignments on schedule

**Job-specific tasks**:
- Monitor all raw material augers and hoppers at required levels
- Safely operate compound production lines (Start up, Shut down, Changeover)
- Safely operate compounding equipment
- Assist Compound Lead hand personnel, as required
- Perform material handling, storage, shipping, receiving, and packaging of finished goods
- Safely operate forklift
- Evaluate product quality and adjust if required
- Monitor processing conditions and report discrepancies
- Keep work area clean and free of hazards
- Maintain level of quality consistent with established standards
- Comply with established safety rules, company policies and procedures
- Perform other duties as assigned
**Working Hours**:
The facility currently operates on an **eight (8) hour bi-weekly rotating shift format. **However, given the nature of our business and due to customer needs, alternate hours may be required. The Company reserves the right to alter the work schedule and/or implement any other shift format that may be necessary to meet production and/or job demands. These alterations may include reducing shifts and/or schedules, implementing a rotating/fixed 12-hour continental shift formal or a rotating/fixed 8-hour shift. In the event that changes to the shift schedule are necessary, the company will attempt to notify you in advance.
**Hours worked in the afternoon shift are eligible for a $0.50/hour premium and hours worked in the night shift are eligible for a $1.00/hour premium.**
**Job Qualifications**:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.
- High School diploma, or equivalent
- Experience in operating equipment, preferably within a manufacturing environment
- Able to communicate in English effectively (read, write, verbal and aural comprehension)
- Basic understanding of manufacturing operations and control systems
- Self-starter who is able to achieve customer satisfaction by meeting commitments and taking accountability; being willing to cross-train to gain additional skills and use job knowledge; and taking a common-sense approach to problem-solving
- Must work well under pressure; able to work productively both independently with minimum supervision and on a team to meet deadlines
- Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs. /23 kgs
- Customer-oriented attitude with a strong commitment to safety, quality, and delivery
