**Transportation Planner**

**1 Permanent Position**

**35 Hours Per Week**

**Student Transportation Services of Waterloo Region (STSWR)** is a dynamic team of community-oriented individuals who plan, manage, and provide pupil transportation for approximately 34,000 elementary and secondary students at two publicly funded school boards in Waterloo Region.

**Job Description**:
Make a difference in student’s lives by arranging their safe and efficient transportation between home and school. Use your superior analytical skills to resolve complex routing problems. You will communicate with a variety of stakeholders from parents to schools to school bus operators daily to address concerns and resolve issues. Your advanced skills in logistics will help you form optimal routing solutions for students. You will be responsible for verifying student data, maintaining current and accurate school and bus route files, maps, and statistics.

Core hours for this position will be 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday (35 hours per week), with summer flex hours (Friday’s off in July/August) and limited capability for remote work (majority of time in our Kitchener office).

Qualifications:

- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to problem solve and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to de-escalate situations and demonstrate a calm and respectful demeanor over the phone.
- Ability to communicate positively and tactfully with external and internal contacts.
- Completion of post-secondary diploma or degree required in GIS, Logistics, Planning or another related field.

Rate-of-pay: $34.38 to $41.16 per hour with comprehensive benefits and a defined benefits pension plan.
