We are currently seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Ophthalmic Technician and Scribe to join our team.

**Position Summary**

**Responsibilities**
- Accurately performing patient screening/testing: History, Visual Acuity, Pupil Assessment, Color Vision, Instilling drops, etc.
- Accurately performing diagnostic testing: HVF, FDT, OCT, Anterior OCT, IOL Corneal Topography, etc.
- Explaining the purpose of each test and demonstrating proactive assessment;
- Communicating with patients regarding follow-up care, pre and post-operative care, testing, possible symptoms, changes in appointment times etc;
- Efficiently and accurately documenting all pertinent information in patient records (EMR);
- Maintaining, calibrating and cleaning all equipment used throughout the day;
- Scribe for physicians during consultations and procedures, accurately documenting clinical findings and treatment plans in real-time.
- Assist in maintaining exam rooms, equipment, and supplies.
- Provide patient education regarding medications, treatments, and follow-up care.
- Support efficient patient flow through excellent communication and coordination with the clinical team.
- Maintain accurate, timely EMR documentation

**Skills & Qualifications**
- High School Diploma or equivalent;
- Completion of your AAO/COA is considered an asset
- 3 years of current experience working within ophthalmology or optometry
- Typing speed of 40wpm or better;
- Experience with an Electronic Health Record;
- Experience using Accuro EMR;
- Excellent patient service skills with an aptitude to understand the patients’ conditions;
- Maintains privacy and confidentiality;
- Ability to produce high quality accurate work;
- Comprehensive knowledge of health care, organizational/office practices, procedures, and standards
- Excellent professional verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in an inter-professional team and independently with little direction;
- Excellent organizational and time management skills well developed interpersonal skills, including the ability to handle multiple duties;
