North Vancouver, Canada St. Pius X Elementary School Full time

We are seeking a full-time educational assistant for Grade 2 (age 7 year olds)

**As we are a school within the Catholic School system, we are seeking someone with a similar faith background.**

Newly certified teachers hoping to gain experience in a school setting prior to making the leap into classroom teaching are welcome to apply.

Experience with students on the autism spectrum, with attention deficit or anxiety disorders preferred, as well as working with elementary aged students.

Roles and Responsibilities:

- Work under the supervision of a certified teacher
- Support students to maximize participation and learning in an inclusive environment
- Assist teachers in designing and implementing individualized or group behavioural and learning support
- Assist in the collection of data, including observations and recording of academic and behavioural performance
- Interact with students in a professional and effective manner
- Participate in IEP/School-Based Team meetings as required
- Be living in Canada, preferably in North Vnacouver or surrounding areas of Greater Vancouver and own a vehicle
- Have completed Grade 12 or equivalent
- Have current educational assistant certification (desirable, but not mandatory) and/or interest in pursuing a career in education
- Be eligible for a current British Columbia criminal record check
- Have evidence that the personality and character are suitable to work with students who have exceptionalities (a working interview will be required)
- Be willing to work in a team environment

Involvement in activities of the school welcomed. Experience in basketball, soccer, and/or track & field an asset.
