**PRIMARY FUNCTION**:
The Quality Assurance Technician is responsible in maintaining the Company’s HACCP Program. Under the direction of the HACCP Manager/SQF Practitioner the QA Technician provides daily guidance to QA Department staff and plant employees to ensure the HACCP Program is strictly adhered to and that Company food safety rules and policies are followed. Internal auditing of the effectiveness of the programs is required as is the upkeep of the written programs and all associated records. The Quality Assurance Technician is also responsible working with and managing the relationship with the CFIA Inspectors.
**KNOWLEDGE and EXPERIENCE**:
- Minimum 5 years experience in a food processing environment.
- Minimum 3 years experience in quality assurance of food production
- Completion of a college or university program
- Knowledge CFIA rules and regulation
- Knowledgeable with Health and Safety Regulation
- Experience with operating in a Union Environment
- Basic computer skills.
**MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Manage the HACCP Program with the assistance and direction of the HACCP Manager/SQF Practitioner
- Review the Pre-requisite program as necessary and conduct monitoring and or verifications of the program.
- Implement and manage the CFIA rules and regulations
- Communicate and coordinate with the CFIA Inspectors
- Conduct internal audits
- Conduct Work Place Health and Safety Inspections and work with team.
- Trouble shoot and assist Shipping Foreman with scanning guns.
- Provide training to employees for food safety procedures (GMPs) and monitor effectiveness
- Establish methods to meet work schedules and coordinate activities with the Warehouse.
- Maintain all QA reports and provides department reports and information as requested
- Health and Safety of employees. Ensures work environment is safe and that employees work safely and follow established safety practices
- Ensure finished products meet or exceed quality standards by conducted product evaluations.
- Communicates and shares information with employees.
- Report any problems with the Food Safety Quality Management System.
- Ensuring that Quality & Food Safety Management systems are established, implemented, maintained and updated.
- Report directly to the Senior Management regarding system performance & suitability.
- Present information for Senior Management review so that actions for improvement can be determined.
- Ensure the development of the Food Safety Fundamentals and the Food Safety Plan.
- Promote the awareness of customer requirements throughout the company.
- Assist with any other requests in emergency situations i.e. scaling, labelling or assisting with task conducted at Est # 164.
