**Position Scope**

As a **Technical Librarian**, you develop, promote, and support a range of digital tools and services for users in a technical organisation. You contribute to the development, design, support and growth of company wide Electronic Document Management System (EDMS). You are also responsible for developing and implementing consistent document handling processes including improved searchability practices by assessing user needs to establish taxonomical structures. The technical librarian will also support technical staff with locating internal documentation and act as a resource for discovering and facilitating access to external sources of information.

**This position is based in beautiful Squamish, BC. This is a hybrid workplace model to allow the successful applicant to work from home and in the office a few days a week.**

**Key Responsibilities**
- In collaboration with the IP team, facilitate the sharing and classification of confidential information, contribute to IP training initiatives, and organise internal group document storage.
- Collaborate with the Document Management System (DMS) working group, contribute to the design, support, and growth of an EDMS, with principal responsibility for the development and growth of the Technical team areas’ taxonomies and metadata.
- Liaise extensively with individuals and functional areas across the Technical departments (Engineering, IP, Commercial, Technical Development, Operations) to understand and develop solutions to their document and information needs
- Create, deliver, and assess related training workshops across areas
- Develop and implement document labeling and file naming conventions and procedures based on area needs, professional norms, and best practices
- Develop policies and procedures for managing content
- Serve as a resource for locating internal and external information
- Identify and assess sources of information (databases, repositories, collections) to support the activities of the technical teams. Negotiate, implement, and maintain access to these resources, including the creation and delivery of training workshops, guides, and finding aids.

**Education and Experience**

**Education**:

- Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) degree from an ALA-accredited university

**Experience**:

- 5+ years relevant industry experience operating in a technical organization, or equivalent background experience
- General understanding of engineering and science topics
- Experience developing and providing training across areas, disciplines, and levels of technological proficiency
- Experience negotiating with database vendors, including the assessment, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of open access resources and subscription-based research databases
- Experience providing reference services in-person and electronically efficiently and to a variety of users
- Experience working collegially and effectively with a diverse array of users across teams and functions in a time-sensitive environment
- Experience in effective prioritization of deliverables across multiple departments/customers
- Analytical thinking with excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving mindset
- Ability to work with staff to continuously improve services
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively to balance and meet competing needs and projects
- Proficiency in Sharepoint, Sharefile, and Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and other Enterprise-based software
