**Transition To Apprenticeship**:
During this one-year term position, we will meet monthly to discuss your growth, performance, and job satisfaction. We will raise any issues that may affect your eligibility for an apprenticeship. At the end of this one-year term position, one of three things can happen:
We will offer you our next available apprenticeship as a sheet metal worker;
If your performance makes your ineligible for an apprenticeship, your term position will end;
In exceptional circumstances, if mutually agreed, we may extend your role as driver.
If you start a sheet metal apprenticeship, this is the contracted union pay scale for this role:
0-800 hours $21.94 + 12% holiday pay; and you will receive regular pay increases associated with hours worked as a Sheetmetal worker. ( at 8800 hours, the current the journeyperson hourly rate is $ 39.89 +12% holiday pay).
**About the Role**:
As a material handler / driver, you will have a significant impact on the success of the company. You must be well organized, responsive to customers, and have excellent communication skills. You must consistently follow established standards and you show commitment towards planning, continuous improvement, and eliminating waste.
You will transport material and equipment to work sites and customers. You will provide excellent customer service as the face of the company. When not making deliveries, you will be responsible for shipping and receiving, cleanup, organizing tools and material, helping with shop tasks, and performing other duties as assigned.
**Responsibilities**:
Search for wasteful processes and participate in process improvement activities.
Safely and lawfully operate the following equipment:
16’ 3 Ton Cube Van (Manual Transmission)
14’ Flat deck truck (Manual Transmission)
Telescopic forklift (We can provide training)
Forklift (We can provide training)
Deliver materials, tools, and equipment to jobsites, Sheetmmetal workers and customers.
Actively participate in the unloading and storage of material and equipment.
- Remove leftover & waste materials from site as directed by supervisor.
- Communicate Schedule with internal and external customers and coordinate (schedule?) deliveries in advance.
Organize your delivery schedule and manage your time appropriately.
Process shipping and receiving according following company standards.
Organize and store leftover material from project sites.
Ensure vehicles are clean, have proper maintenance scheduled? and inspected.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
Maintain accurate & detailed records of items delivered.
Maintain and improve systems for tagging and tracking tools and assets.
Other duties as assigned.
**Experience**:
Full drivers class 5 License (No “N”)
Ability to effectively mange time, schedule tasks, and meet commitments.
Ability to see waste and participate in process improvements.
Excellent written and oral English.
Clean drivers abstract.
Ability to lift seventy-five pounds, as well as bend, twist, and climb.
Excellent customer service.
Ability to work independently without direction.
Ability to work well in a team environment.
Comfortable with technology.
Class 1 Drivers license is an asset but not a requirement
**What You Will Need**:
Excellent driving ability including driving a manual transmission 3-ton cube truck in the city.
Self organization.
Optimistic attitude; willing to tackle problems or new tasks.

Commitment toward seeing waste and continuous process improvement.
You have a courteous and respectful attitude towards fellow drivers, staff members, customers, employees, outside vendors, and other motorists.
