**Full-Time Behavioural Support Manager (Contract)**

**SOUTHLAKE RESIDENTIAL CARE VILLAGE**

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
- Liaises with Behaviour Supports Ontario to ensure that appropriate referrals are made
- Collaborates with the inter-professional team to ensure recommendations from the team and/or BSO are implemented, evaluated, and revised accordingly
- Tracks individuals in the Responsive Behaviour Program to ensure the process is being followed and external resources are being leveraged appropriately
- Proactively identifies training and education needs for the Home and coordination with the DOC and ADOC’s and the Home’s Staff Educator to deliver capacity building supports
- Provides sound clinical knowledge and skills, act as clinical expert and resource, and provide comprehensive, quality resident/family health care services
- Collaborates with Psychogeriatric Resources consultants and mobile behaviour support resources in the development/refresh of our BSRT
- Coaches LTC Home staff in the use of frameworks such as PIECES and UFIRST to assess responsive behaviours, identify triggers and develop behaviour care plans and approaches to providing care to residents requiring behavioural support as well as their families
- Provides coaching on the implementation of behaviour care plans and guides appropriate care plan transitions
- Aids in the transition of Long Term Care residents with responsive behaviours (new or existing) between community, hospital and neighbouring Long Term Care Homes (LTCHs)
- Convenes and chairs regular Behavioural Rounds that enable front line staff to discuss care plans with internal and external resources
- Participates in Staff development and performance management
- Leadership mentoring and coaching
- Effectively manages the collective agreements to foster effective employee relations
- Able to motivate staff

QUALIFICATIONS
- Current unrestricted RPN registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO)
- Registered Practical Nurse Diploma with Medication Certificate with full scope of practice
- Current CPR and First Aid certificates
- Current Vulnerable Persons Police Check
- Minimum 3 to 5 years’ current experience as an RPN with residents in Long Term Care Home setting is preferred or comparative experience in psychogeriatric’s, geriatric mental health, or geriatric neurology
- Training in P.I.E.C.E.S., Gentle Persuasive Approach (GPA), U-First, and Montessori are required
- Demonstrated knowledge and skill working with older adults presenting with, or at risk for, responsive behaviours that may be associated with dementia, complex mental health, substance use and/or other neurological conditions
- Sound knowledge of Point Click Care and eMar software systems preferred
- Knowledge of computerized Care Plans essential
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to adhere to the Occupational Health & Safety Act
- Experience with quality improvement methods and processes an asset
- Good communication, leadership, organizational and interpersonal skills
- Cultural sensitivity and ability to speak English an asset
- Ability to work independently or in a team environment and flexibility to work days, evenings, nights and weekends dependent upon clinical/consultation demands

**Job Types**: Full-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 12 months

**Salary**: From $33.00 per hour
