**DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Registers patients for inpatient, outpatient, and emergency visits, quickly and accurately with the utmost in customer service.
- Pre-registers patients for inpatient and outpatient visits.
- Collects accommodation and insurance information and payment for services where applicable.
- Responds to inquiries made by patients and visitors.
- Responds to telephone inquiries and forwards calls where appropriate.
- Liaises with patients, other department staff, and external customers.
- Assists with other tasks as required in Admitting and other registration areas.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Minimum accurate typing speed of 40wpm required.
- Previous data entry experience required.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication (oral and written) and organizational skills.
- Ability to prioritize duties, problem solve and accurately carry out detailed work in a fast paced environment.
- Demonstrated ability to interact with others in a co-operative, facilitative and professional manner through all circumstances.
- Must have an excellent punctuality and attendance record.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Previous experience in a hospital Admitting or registration department would be an asset.
- Demonstrated commitment to the mission and values of St. Michael's Hospital.

**HOURS**:
Casual, all shifts as required.
