**Job description**
We have a great growth opportunity for a reliable and customer service-focused manager to join our Janitorial Services team in creating safe and welcoming environments for our clients and their customers.
Reporting to the General Manager - Retail Janitorial, this role contributes to ensuring outstanding and quality services are delivered in keeping with SDA’s high standards of performance.

Manages and ensures professional, high-quality service delivery by:
Ensuring training is provided on:
- All required SDA practices and policies
- Safe and appropriate use of products and on-site equipment such as burnishers and auto-scrubbers
Providing ongoing performance feedback and coaching in support of individual and company success
Delivering corrective feedback and disciplinary action as required
**Champions Health and Safety**
Always maintains a safe and clean company vehicle
Follows SDA Company Vehicle, as well as SDA cellphone use policies and practices
Follows the manager's responsibilities of the SDA Health & Safety Policy, including
- Ensuring health and safety policies and practices are established and implemented throughout all of SDA’s client sites
- Takes all reasonable precautions to protect the health and safety of team members, client employees, and the public
- Identifying any potential or actual danger, hazard, or infractions to the General Manager promptly
- Reporting all incidents, accidents, workplace injuries or illnesses immediately to the General Manager
- Conducts workplace inspections at least once per month to identify and evaluate hazards
**Manages and Grows Assigned Janitorial Accounts**
- Uses integrity and diplomacy to maintain excellent customer and vendor relationships
- Responds promptly to customer and vendor requests, concerns, and issues
- Collaborates in the development and implementation of customer service plans
- Develops and implements service delivery plans for assigned accounts
- Prepares and implements work and training schedules for new team members
- Ensures all required materials and equipment are available for daily operations
- Manages delivery of work orders, periodic work, and additional services
- Conducts regular and ad hoc quality control service inspections
- Follows up with all issues identified during regular visits and regular quality control inspections
- Secures supplies and equipment for new accounts
- Recommends process improvements to enhance service delivery and productivity
**Business Development**
- Supports the General Manager in meeting key dates in the Annual Sales Cycle as required
- Identifies opportunities to provide additional services to existing customers
**Profit**
- Follows established processes to track and process work orders accurately and on time
- Ensures the monthly supply budget for each account is not exceeded
- Reconciles materials and labour costs to ensure accurate invoicing
- Recommends process improvements to manage overhead costs
**Priority Management**
Regular working hours for this role are Monday to Friday with availability to team members and clients between 4:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. with the flexibility to visit accounts with team members working evenings and weekends during the time team members are onsite.
As this is a management role, the Area Manager - Retail Janitorial will:
- Stay aware of current or potential crises that may require situation-specific responses outside of regular working hours
- Use judgment to respond to phone calls or voice messages needing an immediate response due to a safety or emergency issue.
To prevent burnout, lieu time will be allocated when a high number of working hours occur outside of regular working hours. This will be decided on a case-by-case basis.

- **Qualifications and Experience Needed to Succeed in this Role**_
- Previous commercial janitorial and property maintenance experience
- Familiarity with floor stripping, waxing and recoating methods for commercial buildings
- An approachable and collaborative style with the ability to work with individuals in different roles
- Able to train team members in the use of equipment such as auto-scrubbers and propane burnishers
- WHMIS as well as Health and Safety certification is an asset
- Ability to travel across Ontario to supervise the deliver
