As the **Precision Agronomist**, you will be our boots-on-the-ground agronomy expert. You will be guided by our Senior Precision Agronomists to develop the skill, experience, and independence to give unrivaled agronomic and technical support to our clients. You will be located in the North East Saskatchewan area to best facilitate surrounding fields; home location is flexible but must be located within 30 minutes of Yorkton.
**Responsibilities**
- Develop and support Senior Precision Agronomists with the SWAT ECOSYSTEM
- Learn the use of variable-rate fertilizer and seed using the SWAT ECOSYSTEM
- Champion the SWAT brand to support the establishment of Croptimistic and the SWAT ECOSYSTEM of products in a growing market
- Consult with prospective SWAT MAPS clients; support the sales team in acquiring new acres in the area
- Ground-truth newly mapped fields by analyzing data layers created by the map developers
- Soil sample fields using SWAT MAPS and perform tissue testing (upon request)
- Interpret soil test results and deliver actionable advice for farm clients
- Acquire the skills to create variable rate prescriptions in SWAT RECORDS and provide recommendations for optimal rates of fertilizer, seed, and soil amendments
- Perform crop assessments after seeding and before harvest to ensure accuracy and effectiveness of VR prescriptions
- Support the crop scouting team by scouting for weeds, disease, and insects
- May require field work assisting in weather station installations and maintenance
**Requirements**:
- Knowledge of current precision ag methods, industry regulations, fertilizers and chemicals
- Able to work independently and think strategically
- High-level of integrity and commitment to providing unrivaled service
- Open-minded with a positive attitude and a willingness to learn
- Strong written, communication, and presentation skills
- 2-3 years of experience as an agronomist
- Agriculture degree from a recognized college or university
- Professional Agrologist (PAg) and/or Certified Crop Advisor (CCA) designation considered an asset
- Class 5 driver’s license (abstract may be requested)
- Must be willing to work overtime in peak seasons (Spring & Fall) including Saturdays
- Travel throughout the province, at times for several days
